yeah, people don’t realize how effective carpet bombing is, more destructive and deadly than any nuke ever launched.
 
I just wish they’d teach people about the actual dangers of biotech, like monoculture crop failure, pollinator death from wide range pesticides, (not to mention bioaccumulative poisons), profits from antibiotic abuse, or the thought police making it illegal to share seeds.

It’s like it’s 1880 and people are fearmongering over worrying airplanes being used spyplanes or bombers.
 
Though actually, fun fact, in-between world wars, analysts typically thought of bomber airplanes the same way we think of ICBMs today. They thought they’d end up resulting in the next world war being unimaginably destructive.
 
They weren’t really too far off, actually…

that’s funny, because if that’s what your book talks about, then it completely ignores the true dangers of biotechnology, for a bunch of sensational hindbrain fear mongering that isn’t actually dangerous at all.

Heck years ago I read a book about what sort of technology corporations should be investing in and biotech was at the top of the list. Why?

Makes you wonder - in this reality, do they have rights? Any at all? Is it murder if you kill them? Do interactions have to have consent? Are they “programmed” to obsessively want anything that you do, so as to make it so even if you gave them total freedom they’d just want to be slaves again?
 
Or what if they’re programmed like real, normal adults that just love the crap out of you and will always have the hormones going so they keep loving you?

As wonderful as it would be to have a real pony friend, there is terrible potential in the technology to make artificial life.

oh no, humans are dying out because we cannot be assed to reproduce anymore, and all we’ve achieved in our decadent society is silly, superficial things like viable vat-grown artificial creatures of human intelligence or greater, produced cheaply and efficiently on a mass scale without a single human getting pregnant. what ever shall we do to stop our great society from dying out? I know, let us force humans to do the dirty! surely that is the only way to solve the problem!

And there’s absolutely no chance of any of them becoming self-aware going “Blade Runner.”
