Indeed. For if they were both lighter and only needing their wings to push them. It would make the most sense on how they can stay afloat and move around at the speeds they do. RD being endowed with some deeper well of this magic it seems.

just adding some points: remember how RD can hover upside-down and stay in the air even without flapping her wings for a few seconds?
my head-cannon is that their magic create some sort of “forced lift” by moving the air around the body than they use the wings just to propel themselves
Lord Tirek was able to draw magic from all the races so it is assumed that even Pegasi have magic as well. Most likely to make them lighter(As their wings would NEED to be much bigger to carry their weight.) This also assumes that Pegasi don’t have hollow bones. With as much as RD has crashed… I think they almost HAVE to have full dense bone structure. This is, of course, only theory. Though I think it lends itself to the logic currently known.
Well i mean theres earth pony magic and unicorn magic, so i wouldnt be surprised if they had some magic of thier own
