I wonder why they still have the summer sun Celebration.
I guess after 100 Years, Nopony know the Reason behind it anymore.
In the Past it was Sun and Moon, but now its Morning and Evening.
Maybe the Ponys not see the Event as Celebration of the Defeat of Nightmare Moon, but the Defeat of Nightmare Spark.

Well, Celestia had to rise and set the sun and the moon for a milennium, and before and after that done her work. Luna was essentially imprissoned within Nightmare Moon for a 1000 years. And the sisters lost a thousand years of time together. They deserve a bit of vacation…

It’s easy to do things Celestia’s way. You just need to find yourself a hit squad consisting of six or seven untrained civilians and make them befriend each other. Bum, you have a perfect problem solver.

well the corporations make the law, and they’re multinational. the way the USA forces everyone else to accept its laws as their own is by making it required in trade agreements, AfAIK.
 
and maybe flash sentry is a lot easier to sneak under the radar, than a bright red and yellow main character with huge speaking roles?
 
I dunno, why should we care about all that legal junk? sunset shimmer’s just as valid a character as littlepip, or kimi sparkle. really you should be ashamed to say she’s canon, because all that really means is soulless, conniving lawyers will lie about owning her, and attack people for using her.
 
anyway my point is the official comics are dumb, I couldn’t give a flying feather about the latest moronic character assassination they’re calling canon, and I think sunset shimmer acts more like princess luna, as far as luna has appeared in the show.

I’m not sure if it’s the case that US law blocks MLP from using Equestria Girls, seeing both are owned by Hasbro, and both FiM and Equestria Girls, are made in Canada actually…

So how FiM canot use stuff introduced in EQG, if they used Flash? And yes, Pony Flash appeared first in EQG.  
At the very least, it seems to situation is a bit more legally intricate, than just “EQG can use FiM, but FiM cannot use MLP”.

How were Legends of Magic misinterpreted in their own comics? The stories with them were pretty alright/decent, and didn’t deviate. I mean Rockhoof’s story in the comics of joining the Mighty Helm was much better than his origin in the show where he just dug and suddenly became strong for no reason.

yes, equestria girls is canon to equestria girls. but not the show canon. because they’re separate franchises, which actually makes it illegal for them both to be canon, since USA law is insane, and lawyers say EQG can use MLP, but not vice versa. the thing is, does it matter? why would something being canon affect this comic, or any comic?
 
I’m saying sunset shimmer isn’t canon, so let’s stop worrying about what’s canon or not, and just talk about sunset shimmer being awesome.
 
I mean… bulk biceps is canon, so canon really isn’t the same thing as good.
 
and yes, I’m critical of the comics, because they make wonderful artists illustrate such horrible writing. in that particular arc, there was no foreshadowing of luna’s demonic portal, so the demons had to explain their own role. it was also a tired rehashing of “luna is nightmare moon” because when you haven’t got an ounce of creativity in you, you just keep retelling popular stories, trying to capitalize on their success.

She is canon, she met with Starlight recently in Mirror Magic.
 
Also, pony Flash Sentry appeared a couple of times in the Friendship is Magic main cartoon. So yeah, Equestria Girls is canon, or at least there is evidence for it.
 
And even if Sunset Shimmer isn’t canon - you are aware we are here discussing a comic that is about her.
 
And I noted Daybreaker isn’t reall - (Well, Daybreaker technically is a dream/mihtmare, but still.) but the creators still chose to design her looking similar to Sunset Satan.
 
Also, I don’t mean to be rude, but you claiming the characterisation of Celestia and Luna in Legeds of Magic comic is “totally misinterpreted by the comic writers, to the point of being nearly unrecognizable”, is very harsh from you (espe cially that Legends of Magic is quite good), and comes of a bit as you not liking that it contradics your personal canon/fanon, rather than a (relativelly) objective opinion…then again, that’s just how it comes of to me, and I may be wrong.

Maybe not the comics in general but the Legends of Magic were specifically made to be canon (with information on the backstories coming directly from the show’s writers).

Well, it still shows a connection betwen Sunset and Celestia, and the Sunset latter did start to have Celestia-like traits. (The Legends of Magic comics also seem closer tied to canon, but YMMV.).
 
Also, Daybreaker, and her similarity in design to Sunset Satan is canon. (Well, Daybreaker technically is a dream/mihtmare, but still.)

Well, the Legends of Magic prequell comic’s first issue, it was shown Princess Celestia was quite a lot like Sunset before/in the first Equestria Gils movie:  
 

 
And like Sunset, in the comic Celestia developed to be more empathetic, and latter of course became the leader of Equestria, that caress for her subjects, which in fact does paralells Sunset’s character development.
 
To be clear, even when Celestia was mean before character development, it was shown, she loves, and carres for Luna:  

 
In the current season, we also got a look at hypotetical “Nightmare Celestia” - Daybreaker, who shown traits similar to Sunset Satan - most notably, black/very dark sclera, and more visible fangs:

(Yes, Nightmare Moon has fangs, but she didn’t have them in her original apperance, and they are less prominent.)
 
So I think Sunset has good reasons, and more she doesn’t know, to compare herself to Celestia.
