Perhaps he looks like this because maybe not all changelings look the same. I mean, we were already shown that there are female changelings and they even have different eyes than normal male changelings, so perhaps not all non reformed changelings looked the same.

It’s funny now that reformed changelings are somewhat “civilized” the old brood gives an impression of retarded, angsty teenagers.

I think pharynx could have been one of the changelings that wasn’t at the hive during the finale.

Only a fan theory here, but maybe he had transformed at the time of the episode to a changeDling, and then changed back, retaining some of his colors from that for, to here.
 
Also, keep in mind that Thorax was already differently colored back at his introduction (and before he got sparkly wings)

Its the fact that the designers never had the time nor need to make different designs due to lack of screentime and mass numbers. Remember how many clone BG pones we had in S1?

Pretty sure it’s just the show staff making him look different from generic background unreformed drones for the sake of telling him apart. When you’re a focal character to a plot you get special fringe benefits.
 
I like how both Thorax and Pharnyx have purple eyes, though.

I’m assuming Pharynx follows a different queen. Because I don’t remember Chrysalis’ drones looking like this.
