Wow, a follow-up to a comment from ten years ago.
It makes sense if you consider that Twilight’s mane is just one main color with an extra two-toned stripe. Dash however has six equally distributed colors on the whole range of the spectrum to contend with.
But yeah, it’s still an inconsistency.

I just realized that Braeburn’s color scheme is the reverse of AJ’s because of this.
