My theory on why qilin horns are curved compared to Western unicorns
 
The keratin (the same structural protein found in rhino horns and fingernails) at the front of a qilin horn grows faster than the keratin at the base of the horn, causing the horn to curve
 
The evolutionary driving forces behind this divergent growth pattern is still unknown
