I was gonna ask why anon has a question mark instead of eyes if filly has eyes.
 
Because someone drew it and others liked it and drew it more and it stuck, that’s why.
 
I don’t think I’d recognize it as anon with eyes, but I definitely recognize filly anon with eyes.
 
Eyelashes are one of the big ways to indicate a pony is female, so it’s kind of important for the “filly” part. There’s also muzzle shape, but enough people draw colts with filly muzzle that it might not be clear.
 
Also anon is bald, so that would confuse further and wouldn’t look as cute on a filly as filly anon’s mane.
