Let not forget the day they took downvotes away from us and replaced it with this stupid hide tag

@Flashy Sprite
If you want to talk about off topic things like LGBT rights and parades, go to the forums or PMs.
@ushiki
By countries where that ‘normally’ happens, I was talking about Islamic countries, for example, especially ISIS-controlled territories and as of recently, Chechnya . You know, places where in most cases there are actual and legitimate death penalties for being gay, which are backed up by the court and the state. As for the “example” you provided, it was a terrorist, not a US government worker, nor otherwise publicly allied with the United States where the shooting itself happened (otherwise it’d land us into a conspiracy theory). Unless the universally hated Donny boy-o secretly pushed a law that’s allowing to mass-murder gays before he was even elected, that is.
Yes, there are.
Thas is, where people have technical possibility to come together. The point of parades is simple: if you feel you are righteous enough to air people’s linen in public, be ready if they slap you in the face with their linen.

Why do I always miss the good drama?
If you insist on doing this in public, fine - this image is meta enough anyway that maybe it will be ok.
Your comment was not deleted because I no liek ur diskussion which was somewhat related so I erased it lol - it was deleted for Rule #6 because Do not
spamor post unrelated content in comments. The comment you say “started the little debacle” was also deleted for exactly the same reason. If you see a “debacle” please report it - don’t join in and make it worse.Criticism of the image was not deleted. Criticism of LGBTs in general or the theme of the image were deleted.
Right now, that image has 13 comments apropos the image, 4 comments from or replying to staff about the deleted comments, 1 comment that was deleted because it was about the image merge and we delete meta comments like that, and 3 comments that were deleted because they were commenting on the theme of the image. Should they have been deleted for Rule #4 instead of Rule #6? That’s often a toss up - but the important thing is that you should have those kind of generalized “What’s wrong with ‘those people’” discussions in the forums - not on image comment threads. That’s why I explained why your comment was deleted in the thread.
An image celebrating pride is not an invitation for you to break into a social commentary on why you don’t like LGBTs with [your quote] “flamboyant ‘In your face’ bombastic attitude”, or why you personally think [again, quoting you] “LGBT is looked down upon”.
If this reply doesn’t satisfy you - please take your dispute to the forums, PM an admin, go to the -help channel in IRC, or report me and explain why you think what happened to your comment is wrong in the text field provided. I probably won’t be the one who responds to you, but the whole staff on duty that day voted on how to handle your comment, so anyone else can answer any questions you have about it.

@Binkyt11
Ooooh…
Okay, first of all, I did not flat-out HATE Pride Parades, I thought they weren’t too necessary where they were mostly seen. I mean think of it: there are still countries in the world that still kill people for being gay, with no parades in them. Meanwhile, parades are carried out mostly where LGBT rights are a thing, yet activists are throwing themselves into public eye as a bombastic pink mob all over the news like they’re orchestrating a revolution. It’s like carrying out an anti-capitalist march over at North Korea IMHO. No hate, just no need in my opinion, which does not include any measures taken against the group of people.
Second, even if there was anyone’s soapbox, it ‘belonged’ to the one who originally asked the question and started the little debacle. All I did was give my opinion as an answer to that question.
Third, “tangentially related”, really? The general Pride-related comments were second most common comments after the ones commenting the image itself. Yet, only praising/neutral comments are allowed, with any criticism is erased. >>1462592 for anyone curious. Hell, there’s even one about LGBT in the role of violent conquerors a la ISIS.
And fourth, even if you’re correct, and my comment is erased for “soapboxing”, why is deletion reason Rule #6? I wasn’t spamming, or otherwise exploiting bugs or anything as I left the comment.
It’s really just a feature question. Right now, in the current implementation, both Hide and Downvote affect values that are used as scores by others and by some site-wide filters, and we’re using the same variables and code for both hide and downvote.
For example, in the current production code, the default filter hides images with an overall score of -50, and only downvotes count as negative score. The push to production this morning however used the downvote value to “hide” so that filter had to be modified, and how “hide” contributed to the overall score is something I don’t recall the details of, but I don’t believe a “hide” was counted against the score of an image (I might be wrong about that). But right now we’re back to the “Downvote is a downvote” and hide is gone.
So, from an implementation standpoint they’re using the same code, and we can do one or the other.
Based on the feedback we’ve gotten from users, a significant number of the problems we have with people not filtering things or leaving manic comments on images that they don’t like, is that filtering is either “too hard”, or they like the theme and the artist so there’s nothing for them to filter. So, when some individuals see an image that “triggers” them, they don’t have anything that they can filter against, and adding the image to their complex filter is too difficult, so a simple and easy to use “Hide this” button seems like a good idea.
I look forward to its return.
But right now we have to have one or the other, just because of the way the code is put together. And changing that means a larger investment in development, testing, and time.
Y’know, why can’t hide be like a turn on able option? Like a personal preference?
You were soapboxing about how much you hate gay pride parades on an image that had two girls holding hands with a pride flag in the background.
If you want a soapbox to complain about gay pride parades, we have a forum for that. Hijacking a random artist’s image as your own personal political soapbox just because it’s tangentially related in your mind is not allowed on this site.
if thier was an oc, it would probably look like the illuminatie
Every time I see a website with no such thing as a downvote option, it reminds me of Homer Simpson as a food critic who gives positive review to literally anything. Some people are too lazy to use comment section, but without a downvote option, there’s no reaction left to expect. Which looks like a step towards equating top-notch potential semi-celebrity artists, who simply aren’t noticed yet, with Sonichu-tier scribblers, allowing no incentive to improve.
And only leaving comments as an option seems dubious at best because, frankly, mods have opinions too. I remember an LGBT-related image with Sunset and Sci-Twi, where somepone asked a question about why people dislike Gay Pride parades so much. I answered by giving my opinion with zero insults or spamming, but also without praising LGBT despite being bi myself, but low and behold: comments deleted because “I no liek ur diskussion which was somewhat related so I erased it lol”. And that’s just one example.
Mods can flat-out call for another plague to kill off people who can’t manage without up/downvotes galore tag, but you do it, and here’s your prize: banned for 1000 years. And lack of a downvote alternative to comment section flame war just gives them more hunting targets.
With that being said, is there an OC for the hide icon yet? Because something tells me it may become the next Nyx or Flesh Santry…

But I think their body surface also looks much smoother and the light effects are nicer. Whatever you did there it just looks so much better. Part of it might be the color scheme as well.

yes i am
They only look better cause their full ponies
You mean the one with the giant red anthro and the foot? The epona and midna models look so much better in comparison although I couldn’t tell you why.
Are you using sfm?
But whatever you use… you should try to use Ambient Occlusion.
It will improve the quality of the picture immediately.
I have
Those epona and midna models looked ok. Can you make your picture of that quality?

mhh.. yeah could work.
But also try to do what Background Pony #9A14 suggested.

I’m going to rework my most recent, and most downvoted, pic and do it with my pony instead of my anthro
