@Background Pony #98F4
It’s one thing to dislike her, but must you express that through necroposting, especially on image as heavily discussed as this one? Just let sleeping dogs lie.
I’m ok. With this. The people hate Starlight can enjoy these kind of images while they suffer agony because Starlight will have a great role in this season and the next one. Hasbro is making a risky move with this movie, to introduce the mane6 to the get new audience. Thus if the movie has low revenues. All the G4 may be finished in an abrupt way. No more Starlight, Discord, Trixie, Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy etc. So, the drama by injured Starlight and all complains about her appereance by a cameo and don’t watch the movie by that is a lesser worry.
@CronoM
First of all, I am not triggered and I do not appreciate being referred to as “anal”. I am mildly annoyed at most. Second, phrases with an extended history (as you have pointed out) like “avoid things like the plague” don’t bother me, not to mention the plague itself is exceedingly rare to contract these days and unlike aids or cancer, can be removed from the system with the proper antibiotic treatment. What I do find intolerable is when terminal illnesses that are having a major impact on the world even in modern times (Aids, cancer, etc.) are exploited by troll-like individuals to use as immature insults. (According to Mayo Clinic, there were only 9 cases of plague in the US in 2015 compared with around 200,000 cases each of aids and lymphoma cancer in the US per year).
@cloudkicker108
While I completely agree, are you really anal enough to be triggered by such an expression? Phrases like “avoid things like the plague”, and similar, have been around for centuries, your a little late in the game to be calling ‘poor taste’ on basic linguistic expressions.
@Philweasel
Yeah, you’re probably right. Let’s face it, anyone who stoops low enough to use a terminal illness as an insult isn’t worth taking the time to talk sense into.
Also, good point about “Insurrection” (both as a potential dangerous path for the MLP movie to go down and for Ebalosus’s illogical use of it).
@cloudkicker108
Frankly the moment I saw that, I knew that comment wasn’t even worth replying to.
‘Actual criticism is too hard… I’ll just compare a movie about colorful ponies to a disease that’s killed millions instead.’
The Insurrection comment on the other hand actually is kinda insightful, because that’s my big worry about the movie. Insurrection was criticized for being dull, cheap looking and just like the TV show, and Meghan is a TV writer who’s writing I’ve always felt was really solid, but a bit unchallanging and predicable. She all too often waits until the second part to actually get the plot moving anywhere.
Given he’s criticized the movie for not looking anything like the show however I don’t think that was his intent at all, and he really has no idea what he’s talking about. He should have said ‘Nemesis’.
@Ebalosus
And I suppose you can do any better? Look, the trailer obviously wasn’t perfect, but comparing to a terminal disease is insulting to both DHX and the people who suffer from that illness.
@Zajice
All true (though “faggot” still doesn’t seem very civil, even if it is the norm). But the main point still sticks; users there thrive on drama.
@cloudkicker108
Most of the bad rep is all from the /b/ board. It’s the only board with no rules at all. Other boards tend to actually discuss their interests, mostly civilly, and they do have moderation. It’s just not very strict. You do have to get used to the lingo though. “Faggot” is like 4chan’s version of “dude” in normal conversation. It’s hard to explain to somebody who doesn’t already get it, but the rules of normal social interaction just don’t apply in the same way.
@Mr grump
4chan is an image-based internet forum in which users can post anonymously in a large selection of message boards covering a wide variety of topics. Because of the anonymous and open ended nature of the site (almost nothing is off limits there), the place is practically devoid of all civility and decency and is often considered a cesspool of the internet. Among the many questionable things that users do on the site, generating drama is apparently common activity there, from what I hear anyway.
Wtf is a 4chan and why does it automatically mean drama?
I mean, I’ve been to 1d4chan.That place is hilarious and has ton of warhammer and DnD articles.
But all I know about regular 4chan is that anon character comes from there and people like that guy, mostly.
I’ve got to investigate this. And by investigate I mean look at wikipedia.
