The Crystal Empire is ruled by Canterlot.
Yes, as anyone who’s seen Game of Thrones can attest, it’s easier to take the capital than the north.
We could argue some sort of strategic imprudence. The Crystal Empire could be seen to him as a stronger foe and Equestria is more the target of opportunity before moving on.
Or it’s already seen as a client-state of Equestria, so either way he’ll have to throw down with Equestria before he has the north secured. So might as well take three airship formations and fly in over like, “Sup, Equestrians?”
He’s after crystals to power his conquest? As far as I’m concerned, that makes him a Primal in my eyes. Time to call in the Warrior of Light…
Also, if he’s after crystals, was there a reason given for why he didn’t hit the Crystal Empire? Or did he already do so, and just wants to smack Canterlot for some strange reason? Guess we’ll find out in October.
