@Frustration in Excelsis
I did read that description but didn’t realize it describes the exact scene that’s happening in the picture, rather that what alternate timeline it’s happening in.
In that case she’s dead. She’s not wielding the elements and is trying to hug a being who values only power and strength… and is also on fire.
In another place, in another time the night princess sent her sister to the sun for her overwhelming pride and lust for power.
Insofar as I can tell, it seems to be an alternate timeline where the sisters’ roles are reversed – Celestia goes evil and Luna has to banish her to the sun.
@Aquabad
Don’t know how you’re reading this so strongly as a Luna apologists piece.
This fandom produced a myriad of AU’s ranging from R63, reversed gender roles, to ones where mane 6 never met etc.
but heavens forbid if there’s one where the other sister fell to the dark side (dunno if it can still be called “dark” when we’re talking about becoming a living flaming inferno but hey, you get the idea).
The artist didn’t specify when this scene takes place so it could have just as well happened during their first confrontation 1000 years ago or in the present right after she escapes, but before she goes to Ponyville.
Switch Tia’s and Luna’s places here and this might be what happened offscreen in the pilot episode since we know NMM imprisoned Tia before appearing in Ponyville and that Celestia didn’t want to fight, betting instead on Twilight to save her sister.
“Celestia’s a tyrant who banished her poor messianic cutie patootie sister for no good reason. If the situation were reversed, my moe goth waifu would have found a peaceful solution.”
-an idiot
People saying they want this is a new episode but we might actually see this new the Nightmare Knights comic that had just started, where Celestia from another dimension has been turned into day breaker and being kept as a pet.
