I think the point of the episode is that honesty is good but to express it in such an abrasive, deliberately insulting way is bad. Having an honest opinion isn’t wrong but Strawberry was being needlessly hostile and wasn’t even attempting an honest conversation.

Actully some times it’s the right way to get someone to catch on, and in the case AJ would likely not get it without exposing her to what she herself was going, after all Rarity was trying to tell her the problem but she didn’t get it until then, so it had to be hammered in like it was.
 
And I disagree, this was a good episode, with Strawberry’s roasting adding to what made it good.  
And 28 Pranks Later was also good, and Mare-Do-Well had it’s problem but it honestly isn’t as bad as so many act like it is.

The problem with that scene: it’s basically Rarity hammering the lesson into AJ’s mind, which as seen by a couple other episodes done by first-time writers (Mare-Do-Well, 28 Pranks Later) is the wrong way to do it (with Strawberry Sunrise’s roasting adding more issues to an already bad episode).
