Oddly, Wario already had those in WL2. No upgrade items required. I guess they wanted WL3 to be a bit more Metroid-like.
 
Yeah, Waluigi needs more love. Only real prominent roles he had outside the sports, Party, & Kart games are “Game & Watch Gallery 4,” and “DDR: Mario Mix.”

Wario in WL4 retained most of the abilities he’s obtained in WL3. I liked that continuity.
 
They should also make Waluigi useful.

Yeah, I always loved that attack. Even before Wario was put in SSB, I couldn’t imagine him without it, it’s practically his main attack in the WL games. (Even had it in the GameCube title “Wario World.”)  
Heck, it was even featured in a “Wario Ware” microgame, I recall, so it’s not like the WW series ignores it either. So it’s baffling why they removed it.
 
Is Nintendo trying to pretend “Wario Land” doesn’t exist, just because “WL Shake-It” didn’t sell well, or something?

He still wears the classic overalls, even in SSB, so they never really went anywhere. Sometimes they’re referenced in the WW series too, like Mona was wearing an outfit similar to them.

I was actually a tiny bit disapointed the SSB games, and such lately only regard the Wario Ware series, (despite how much I enjoy WW) and hardly the “Wario Land” one. I would’ve at least liked a remix of the Wario Land first level music.  
I’m also surprised they got rid of Wario’s trademark “shoulder smash” attack, (which comes from WL) replacing it with a generic wind-up punch that several other characters (like DK & Sonic) already have. So they got rid of the only “Wario Land” nod in the SSB series. (They could’ve easily made it his running attack, like how they finally gave DK his roll attack from the DKC games.)  
Sometimes, I think there are some missed opportunities for some characters’ attack movesets. Except for Wario’s motorcycle, and final smash none of his other attacks come from his games, or have anything to do with them. (I don’t even ever recall him farting prior to SSB.) Though, I still enjoy playing as Wario regardless.

Bruh, he’s a game developer too in Wario Ware games and made tons of profits selling his game. He’s probably richer than the Mushroom Kingdom if you combine the total loot from both games. xD

Wario Land 3 was probably where he started getting really rich. I think after his fourth game, he became a Trump/Gladmane-esque tycoon.

It’s a great Gameboy game, not to mention Wario’s first solo title. Hunting for pirate treasure is always fun.  
The other Wario Land games were great too. (Though, I kinda missed the hat power-ups.)

Surprised we don’t have a “Glimmer is not amused” tag, though it’d probably have to be given to all the “Trixie triggers Glimmer” images.

“Wario Land: SML3” is a great game BTW. I have it on my 3DS.  
It’s funny how that entire area is named for Captain Syrup’s ship, yet only 2 levels take place in it.
