There can be no peace between Israel and Palestine. Hamas needs to be destroyed. Palestine needs to be dismembered and deported.

And neither of them were Prime Minister when Israel committed war crimes attacking the USS Liberty in 1967.

Israel apologized for the attack, saying that the USS Liberty had been attacked in error after being mistaken for an Egyptian ship.[5] Both the Israeli and U.S. governments conducted inquiries and issued reports that concluded the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the ship's identity.[6] Others, including survivors of the attack, have rejected these conclusions and maintain that the attack was deliberate.

You can ahrdly call this a war crime. In every war mistakes are being made, I am sure the USA made many such mistakes in it's various wars.

What is really going on here is that when Mier and Sharon were fighting the war HAMAS/Muslims didn't have the propaganda machine and we were getting more accurate reports.

And Shooter thinks people in the 50's and 60's did a better job of fact checking.

This is a first I know of and unheard of before . I could be wrong but I can't remember the US allowing a resolution even criticizing Israel to pass in the UN let alone submitting their own resolution calling for a cease fire. I don't know how much good it will actually do but it is the kind of symbolic gesture I was talking about because Israel is very sensitive and protective of the myth they are a perfect democracy above reproach.

US calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza with draft UN resolution
Release of Israeli hostages tied to Washington’s demand as Biden administration ups pressure on ally

Israel to halt its military campaign and allow the delivery of substantial amounts of humanitarian aid into the Palestinian territory.

After the declaration of imminent famine in parts of Gaza by a UN panel of experts earlier this week, the Biden administration has been ramping up efforts to call at least a temporary halt to the fighting, on top of warning Israel against launching a ground attack against Rafah in southern Gaza.

Details of the new draft resolution were revealed as the UN released an analysis of satellite imagery showing that 35% of buildings in Gaza had been damaged or destroyed during Israel’s offensive, which has claimed almost 32,000 Palestinian lives.

The US has blocked previous attempts to pass a ceasefire resolution, and the new draft marks a significant step in its approach to the conflict.

Details of the resolution, which calls for “an immediate ceasefire tied to the release of hostages” in Gaza, were disclosed by the US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, as he toured the Middle East.

The US has vetoed previous UN security council votes on the nearly six-month war, objecting as recently as in February to the use of the term “immediate” in a draft submitted by Algeria.

In recent weeks, however, Washington has upped the pressure on its ally, while insisting that Hamas militants must immediately release the hostages seized during its 7 October attacks on Israel.

“Well, in fact, we actually have a resolution that we put forward right now that’s before the UN security council that does call for an immediate ceasefire tied to the release of hostages, and we hope very much that countries will support that,” Blinken said in Saudi Arabia as he toured the region for the sixth time in as many months.

“I think that would send a strong message, a strong signal,” he told the Saudi Arabian channel Al Hadath on Wednesday.

Blinken added that progress was being made in indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas over another ceasefire and hostage release that the US, Egypt and Qatar have spent several weeks trying to broker, saying the mediators worked with Israel to put a “strong proposal” on the table.

“The gaps are narrowing, and I think an agreement is very much possible,” Blinken said.

US officials had been negotiating an alternative text since blocking the Algerian draft resolution calling for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza at the end of February.

That alternative, focusing on support for a six-week truce in exchange for the release of hostages, had little chance of winning approval, according to diplomatic sources.

While no vote has yet been scheduled on the new text, it sends the clearest message yet to Israel of the Biden administration’s growing frustration with its prosecution of the war, and comes after a warning from the UN human rights chief, Volker Türk, that Israel may be committing a war crime by using “starvation as a method of war”.

Officials from 36 countries and UN agencies gathered in Cyprus on Thursday to discuss how to expedite aid to besieged Palestinians in Gaza via a sea route launched last week.

Thursday’s gathering is being attended by Sigrid Kaag, the UN’s senior humanitarian and reconstruction coordinator for Gaza, as well as Curtis Ried, the chief of staff of the US national security council.

Under an agreement hammered out with Israel, cargoes can undergo security inspections in Cyprus by a team including Israeli personnel, eliminating the need for screenings at its final offloading point to remove potential hold-ups in aid deliveries.

One vessel left Cyprus last week and distributed aid in Gaza, while another two are expected to depart in coming days, subject to weather conditions.

Constantinos Kombos, Cyprus’s foreign minister, said: “We are discussing how we can max up operational capacity both in terms of departure and means of transport and also in relation to the reception and distribution methodology.”

Delegates would also discuss the creation of a fund to coordinate operational activities of the initiative, Kombos said, although he clarified it was not a donors’ conference.

They can call for whatever they want, Netanyahu cannot agree to such a resolution as he will lose any support he has got left in the country. And he is a survivor who knos very well what is good for himself ! Biden is afraid of theupcoming elections and wants to be seen as having stood up against Israel and being the peacemaker in the Middle East. Oh well, if we have to tak Afghanistan as an example there is not much chance he will agree.

Its Netanyahu using the genocide to keep the fighting going so he can stay in power and avoid his own indictments. And if Bibi The Butcher wants to stand alone fine let him do it. Without any more US aid. The US should not be part of the genocide of the Palestinians.

    Great idea.
Israel is kicking HAMAS right in the nuts and pushing them to their final destruction.
So we need a cease fire.
You know, to give the fuckers the chance to rearm, reman, and reequip.
To carry on their Jihad against the west and Israel.

    Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!
The war, without a cease fire, can be over in a few more weeks.
A cease fire could extend the destruction and death through summer.
HAMAS must be dancing in the streets.

Not surprised though that american hater would support a cease fire.

A major difference is that they fought wars against countries, not terrorists. But many people will not agree with you about Sharon as he got involved with the Palestinians being murdered in Sabra and Shatilla, remember ?

I hear you but it was never a recognized country. It does not have an army, it has a terrorist organization ruling it. They don't fight like an army, they hide between the civilian population and use all kinds of methods forbidden by the rules of war like using the enemies uniforms, fighters without uniforms, using ambulance, hospitals, schools and mosques as wepaon storage places and places from which to attack, and of course barbaric actions like rape, murder, setting civilians on ifre alive, etc. They can break every rule of war but the world wants Israel to keep to these rules when defending itself against them.

First Israel helped create Hamas and funded them to undercut the Palestinian Authority and stop progress on a two state solution. That allowed Hamas to set up hospitals, food distribution and infrastructure so they looked like the good guys. Then George W Bush helped Hamas get on the ballot. But as soon as Hamas was elected they wowed their true colors started assassinating political opponents and a civil war to drive out any political opposition. That gave Hamas total control over Gaza where Israel continued to fund them and prop them up. Which Israel was still doing right up until the 10/7 attack.

About the USS Liberty a USN navy ship a supposed friend of Israel, but they do as they like the ISRAELI, and they did not the like the US looking over there shoulder .A few years later the US government sold the F4 Phantoms and transferred 25 during the yom kipper war from USAF Europe squadrons they were delivered in full US marking to replace the losses and A4 Skyhawk in large quantities plus C130s and Boeing 707 they used as in-flight refuel tankers and various helicopters. Sometines governments have short memories.

Jewish exodus from the Muslim world
The first large-scale exoduses took place in the late 1940s and early 1950s, primarily from Iraq, Yemen, and Libya. In these cases, over 90% of the Jewish population left, despite the necessity of leaving their assets and properties behind.[4] Between 1948 and 1951, 260000 Jews immigrated to Israel from Arab countries...

Later waves peaked at different times in different regions over the subsequent decades. The peak of the exodus from Egypt occurred in 1956, following the Suez Crisis. The emigrations from the other countries of North Africa peaked in the 1960s...

In 2009, only 26000 Jews remained in Arab countries and Iran,[12] as well as another 26000 in Turkey.[13] By 2019, the total number of Jews in Arab countries and Iran had declined to 12,700,[14] and in Turkey to 14,800.[15]...

In 1941, immediately following the British victory in the Anglo-Iraqi War, riots known as the Farhud broke out in Baghdad in the power vacuum following the collapse of the pro-Axis government of Rashid Ali al-Gaylani while the city was in a state of instability. 180 Jews were killed and another 240 wounded; 586 Jewish-owned businesses were looted and 99 Jewish houses were destroyed.[116]...

In October 1956, when the Suez Crisis erupted, the position of the mutamassirun, including the Jewish community, was significantly impacted.[176]

1000 Jews were arrested and 500 Jewish businesses were seized by the government. A statement branding the Jews as "Zionists and enemies of the state" was read out in the mosques of Cairo and Alexandria.[citation needed] Jewish bank accounts were confiscated and many Jews lost their jobs. Lawyers, engineers, doctors and teachers were not allowed to work in their professions. Thousands of Jews were ordered to leave the country. They were allowed to take only one suitcase and a small sum of cash, and forced to sign declarations "donating" their property to the Egyptian government...

Following the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and the 1949 Armistice Agreements, all Jewish communities in Transjordan, the Jordanian-annexed West Bank, and the Egyptian-occupied Gaza Strip were depopulated.[201][202]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewis...-scale exoduses,to Israel from Arab countries.

    1. Ian613
In total around 800,000 refugees from Arab countries were absorbed by Israel, the same number as the original number of Palestinian refugees. However, the Jewish refugees were absored into ISraeli society and integrated into the poppulation. They were in camps for a short time before their integration. There are no refugee camps in Israel today, nor have there been any since the early 1960's latest. Today the descendents of these refugees can be found in all levels of society, from politicians to judges to policemen to professors. Unfortuantely the Palestinian refugees were not integrated by the Arab countries hosting them (mainly Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt) and today they are still in camps, not educated (but towards hate for Jews) and loathed by their Arab brethern. And this all while Israel was at the time a developing and quite poor country while the Arabs already had their oil billions of dollars !

From the formation of Israel the United States was not motivated by what was good for the United States, but by what was morally right.

The Jews are the Chosen People of God, the nation that gave the world Jesus Christ, and Israel is the only civilized country in the Near East. The 0.2% of the world's population who are Jews are the most accomplished 0.2% of the human species.

    The Palestinians...

Well, I better be mindful of Rule # 3 "No discrimination based on gender, race, creed, or sexual orientation of any sort. Any threads that generalize inane gender observations and cause a forum disruption will be removed."

When I defended stumbler in a hate thread I forgot to read the Rules first.:oops:

You do realize though that Jews don't believe Jesus is the son of God. And saying Israel is the only civilized country in the near east is ludicrous.

No, we do not believe Jesus is the son of God. Jesus was actually a Jew living as a Jew. He had many followers but Christianity was mainly created by Paul.
Maybe it is ludricous to say Israel is the only civilised country in the Middle East (I don't think so) but it surely is the only democratic country in the Middel East and the only staunch stable ally of the USA.

Messianic Jews recognize Jesus as the Messiah. All or most of the New Testament, which I have read nine times in eight English translations, was written by people we would recognize as Messianic Jews.

Religion is a poor excuse for war. But often is the only reason. Is that being civilized? My religion is better or more important than yours?

Countries rarely fight over religion. They fight over land and other resources. Nevertheless, in war and other conflicts a country that is unified by a religion has an advantage over a country that is not.
