Either way the only chance that world has for salvation is if discord escapes and unleashes the sun To cleanse the darkness
That’s kind of a lie, though the truth isn’t much better.
@Background Pony #3116
This is art of a story where NMM took over and banished Celestia, Celestia returns and tries to bring back light, which blinds Flutterbat (who’s a moth now, for reasons. Also, wasn’t Shy a bat due to her being transformed via magic, meaning that NMM had to go out of her way to turn everyone onto bats/vampires after forcefully removing their current ruler? And why is Twi a bat if she wasn’t Celestia’s pupil and finished Starswirl’s spell, or why are the Mane Six alive and together in this AU when they have no reason to have met up? Sorry, lost track), and is seen as the monster (complete with statues depicting her as a monster that she never was), and her turning into a bat because NMM is actually good and just, because Woona can do no wrong. Worst part is that this is base on a book where the protagonist is the last human alive, but realizes that he’s the monster, and chooses to save the “zombies” that turn out to be the next step for humans and leaves them to grow and develop since there’s nothing left for him.
She is, considering she’s now under her sister’s control, and had a vital part of herself taken from her
It seems like it would be a good thing if a villain came along and exposed them to the sun again, as it would wipe out all life, therefore purging the darkness that has infected the land,
@darknessRising24
It’s time you filtered this artist and moved on. You don’t have to “save” this story - you can just stop reading it.
@Background Pony #C575
This isn’t just criticism - this is pestering. You’ve given your criticism, the artist has made up their own mind. Move on.
Also, sockpuppeting is against our rules. The next person who posts in this thread both as themselves and as a BP is going to be publicly outed and banned. Either post as yourself, or post as BP - pick one.

You forgot to mention that the fact that she forcibly converts the citizens to a new way of living, and coerces them into rejecting the Sun and her elder sister over a thousand years, which also makes her a manipulative bitch. Also, Celestia now can’t even use her special talent due to the fact that it will hurt her and everyone around her, and everyone despises her. Yet in this picture, NMM acts like things are going to get better for the both of them, when it really won’t.
The least the author could do is explain what the hell Celestia is supposed to do with her immortal life now that she’s unable to put her special talent to good use!
He blocks anyone who thinks otherwise.
He’s a guy who can’t just take criticism for an answer.

And Magister39 still types away, showing how heroic and awesome Nightmare Moon is…
Sigh
Again, the evil-looking statues of Celestia backs up that NMM is a villain in this, both because she makes Celestia look like those statues, and that they fear a being that looks exactly like them, which means that they fear the Nightmare Form they live with.
Since raising the sun would kill off most of the population, she’s pretty much placed Equestria to a completely vulnerable state.
Think about it, suppose Discord gets free and decides to “shed a little light” on Equestria for shits and giggles?
The ecological system suddenly goes nuts and everything starts dying off, why? Because they haven’t adapted to the sun, an issue that they wouldn’t have to deal with if Nightmare hadn’t brought about Eternal Night and forced them to adapt to that set lifestyle.
Even the elements wouldn’t be able to help them, since y’know, they themselves would be either blind or dying because of the sunlight that they are not used to, and since Discord was smart enough to hide the elements it’s game over for everybody.
Hell, it’s confirmed that unicorns were able to raise the sun themselves in the past before the sisters came along, who’s to say that once the sisters are taken out by other powerful entities such as Chrysalis or Tirek (both of whom have powerful magic, or at the very least enough to rival the sisters) they won’t simply raise the sun to weaken the inhabitants and then easily drain them of their love/magic?
All it’ll take is someone with enough power to take control of the Sun everyone, including the element wielders, will be at their Mercy.
So just to recap; a tyrant banishes the elder sister and takes the Kingdom from her, forcibly converts it to their way of living, arguably making it even more vulnerable, then when the Elder sibling finally comes back said Tyrant does nothing to actually fix things between them and leaves her minions to actually forcibly convert her and then act like everything fine and dandy and that the elder sister just has to deal with everything that’s changed.
Now if it had been some sort of force of nature, like say a disease that converted the inhabitants of the world into nocturnal beasts, or maybe a situation where Celestia went evil and Nightmare was considered a lesser of two evils, then I could see the story working in some way.
But as it stands now, this is NOT a good ending, Nightmare Moon is still the villain in this world, no matter how much she in the population want to think otherwise.
Celestia:… I can’t put my tongue back in my mouth.
Clearly, the guy doesn’t understand that there is a complete difference between spamming and constructive criticism.
No, this is where the creator thinks they are always in the right and the smart critics are always in the wrong. In reality, we the smart critics are in the right, and the creator stubbornly refuses to admit that he is in the wrong, and he can’t see his glaring plot holes in this universe he’s created, just because a bunch of other people don’t ask him these questions.
He’s just coming off as simple-minded and as stubborn as a mule.
Oh great, it’s reminding me of the Conversion Bureau and My Little Unicorn. Both make villains look like heroes, heroes look like villains and both refuse to admit that they’re wrong.
At this rate, I expect him to kill Discord and then make jokes out of it…Facepalm
Thank you! You might wanna bring this comment to the mane source as well, this guy needs to wake up.
This whole thing just seems like a giant “fuck you” that Nightmare Moon pulled on her sister.
I THINK the author’s reasoning is similar to that in the ol’ fanfic; “Nights Favored Child”, which is basically “NMM got board of being a tyrant and, seeing as she got everything she wanted, ended up trying to be a semi-mediocre ruler”. Infact, the guys whole premise seems to be very similar to Nights Favored Child, but at least in that fic the authors depiction of the world, while not completely terrible, is clearly not as good as the original one and shows that in several instances.
Basically, it’s the same concept, only less smart.

Aside from the points I’ve brought up below, it’s stated that Celestia escaped the moon herself, and the artist wants us to see Nightmare and the Dark Six as the heroes, despite the fact that Nighmare basically usurped Celestia and made her out to be the villain of the world, then forced the world into a situation where they had no choice to submit to her rule. Celestia just wanted to bring peace and harmony to Equestria, hence why the Elements worked for her and helped her banish Nightmare in the first place, Nightmare on the other hand most likely banished Celestia herself since at that point the Elements would never work for her.
Celestia ruled for 1000 years managing the day and night cycle without becoming a tyrant. Nightmare immediately forced the world into eternal night, which could’ve resulted in everyone dying of starvation if they didn’t freeze to death first. So in this day and age, Celestia is still good, just seen as evil by the rest of the world thanks to her sister. The problem is that Celestia isn’t evil. She’s doesn’t make a spectacle of herself and declare herself the new ruler like Nightmare did, but just came back from her banishment after her sister staged a coup. So no matter the situation the Elements STILL shouldn’t see her as evil! This just comes off as forcefully brainwashing her instead of trying to reason with her, despite her wanting nothing but her sister back.
The reason the Elements worked on Nightmare is because she was corrupted and had to be banished for the sake of Equestria, there was absolutely nothing wrong with Celestia, so she still isn’t evil and therefore her needing to be stopped is only because bit Nightmare’s actions. From what we’ve seen in the show, the Elements are at least semi-sentient so they’d still be on Celestia’s side when she returned, otherwise by this story’s logic they’d still work for Nightmare and the mane six wouldn’t be needed.
So the only way this could work is if Nightmare found a way to corrupt the Elements herself while bonding them to her loyal subjects to use against Celestia.
You can’t truly justify Celestia being converted as a heroic act, because she really has no reason for us veiwers to see her as the villain. Saying her daylight would end Equestria is a stretch the elements once ended Discord’s chaotic reign and immediately converted everything back to a normal and proper living environment.
NMM also tried to kill Celestia, so why would she suddenly care about her? She didn’t hesitate to capture her in the first episode, as well as the statue from earlier being a transformed Celestia instead of pony Celestia, which would be like if the NMM statues in the show were instead Luna with pointed teeth. Get the idea now?
