Luna wasn’t sure what to think of this place.
When her older sister had told her that she would be taking a trip to a foreign land to act as an ambassador to it’s people, she had expected a little more…decorum than this.
Not that it was terrible, but it was definitely not what she as a princess had been used to. The house of her human host was not small, but certainly not like the diplomatic suites that the gryphons and the dragons set up for their visitors.
And the technology these ‘humans’ used! They were so much more advanced than any pony technology that she had seen yet! Records and halogen lights and electricity were decades behind what these creatures had created. Yet by the same token, she couldn’t understand what half of the devices she had found were for.
The large roaring metal boxes with windows on them were confusing enough (and honestly a little scary) and the large window-panel that showed moving pictures was a wonder in and of itself, but this thing had her baffled.
It was a smaller, simply designed metal box with a window on it, and a handle to the side of the window; yet when she pulled on it, it wouldn’t open. There were little cubes on one side, and a larger square below them, did they do something?
Cautiously, she began to press her hoof on the grid surface of the box. Much to her surprise, the box began to chime at her. Was that its purpose? To make soothing noises to relax to? Luna began to smile; sometimes these creatures made no sense, and other times, they shocked her with their creativity.
Encouraged by the sounds, she began to press the buttons in earnest, listening to the happy chirping noises the box made. Her hoof drifted lower on the box until…

BANG!
“Yeep!”
Luna backed away from the box, backing into the counter behind her, wings flared out in surprise and fear. She stared in horror at the angry box, wondering if all things in this place would attack her if she messed around with them too much.
A click and a bright flash from the corner of her eye drew her attention to her gracious host, holding a small black box that she remembered the orange-coated friend of her sister’s pupil call an ‘Apple Eye Phone’. The human was smiling widely, shaking with restrained laughter at her predicament, staring at the little black object in his hand.
He looked at her clearly finding great humor in the situation, and said,
“This is so going on my Flickr account.”
Okay, this isn’t exactly self-inspired like the rest of the ‘Technology Problems’ pictures.
This one was actually inspired by a story called “Progress: Luna versus the Microwave” by Andrew Joshua Talon, which you can find on

To Andrew:
Your story is brilliant, and I am proud to say that it truly did inspire me to draw this pic as well as write the short story above. I would encourage you to keep writing, as you have a very bright future ahead of you.”
