The developers of Fighting Is Magic was forbidden to use anything related to MLP, so Lauren offered to design some new characters for them. These new characters share a lot of traits with the Mane Six, to the point you could very easily see them swapped with each other. Standin might be the wrong word, "inspired by" might be better.
