Also Spike and Applebloom could do a cute couple, I say.
I’ve never heard “shotgun wedding” being used in that context before; it’s always been my understanding that the shotgun was exclusively to keep the groom from escaping his paternal obligations. However, the tradition of choosing a “best man” came out of the common necessity at weddings in Ye Oldene Tymese for someone to guard the groom against rival suitors who might try to lethally disrupt the ceremony, as it were, so there is a precedent.
Usually it is, but sometimes you also need it to keep an army of horny mares away from the groom
It’s called “Shotgun Wedding” for a reason.
