I try to see the faults of people as the shadow side of some strength they possess. In this case, people are passionate about MLP. The flip side of this is that they react very poorly to anything that they perceive might be ‘damaging’ to their beloved show.
 
Don’t seek to cause drama over this one character. There is no conceivable way he can damage the fandom or the show and I doubt he can do much to ruin the movie either. Worst case scenario is that he is an annoying unlikable character who gets too much screentime (which there is no indication of. I mean, this is just one picture). Big deal. Take some deep breaths. He cannot take away the show or the fandom from you.

There’s a pretty big difference between human and bipedal cat, we already have bipedal dogs, it actually makes sense when you think about it, if you have dogs that do that why not cats?

I’m guessing fans of the G4 series always perceived that humans or anything “too human” cannot exist in the Ponyverse.

Like I said there’s no way of knowing if they’ll chew screentime and as long as they are likeable and done well while also getting plenty from the main 6 it doesn’t really matter, people are just judging something they know nothing about yet like it’s Satan when it’s just some characters.
 
The worst part is if they don’t develop the character people will complain he was bland or pointless if they do develop them people will cry they are taking up too much screentime even if they don’t get that much of it. People just won’t be satisfied is what it is.
 
He could suck and be an awful character or he could be great but I’m gonna wait till I actually see it before I start declaring anything.
