“Seriously though, I also got a copy of the movie based on this board game and well, taking into account the source material Im surprised they managed to pull a movie out of it. Its almost a miracle, if you think about it. It has action, the aliens look somewhat inspired and I think its fun. Mindless fun, but still, its fun.
 
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to try and beat Cotton Bucket. Shes beaten me three times already! I bet shes cheating.”

The film was watchable, but it was by no means Independence Day. I felt that it relied far too much on CGI, hoping that the audience will be floored by the special effects so that they won’t catch the grocery list of factual errors riddled throughout the story.
 
I agree with The Smiling Pony in that the alien vanguard had a nice (if odd) design, and they seemed far more human-like and weren’t your typical H.G. Wells’s war-loving lunatics.

It wasn’t bad, mind, and the aliens were some of the best I’ve seen in a movie yet. I mean, they behaved like a “normal” military invasion force and not a bunch of genocidal maniacs.
