There’s more colour where anon has not yet been, the longer he’s there, the more the colour gets desaturated.. or something like that. the amount of saturation being directly proportional to the amount of magic in that thing.

Look at the second panel, where Anon touching the fence is seemingly leeching the color from it and the chicken.
IIRC it was mentioned way back that color, in this comic, was being used to indicate levels of magic - in this case we have ponies full of it, a building full of it (which makes me curious how that works given outside was gray) and an Anon who makes it gray on contact.
In short the color doesn’t seem to be just a stylistic choice, it’s just indicating stuff we’re not entirely read into yet.
