The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Not that it’s even close to the main thing to love with this series, but damn it’s gonna be nice when we get the anatomically correct edit of Dash.

Duck - "someone befriended them, saved them, coaxed them out of their shell, and showed them that sex is nothing to be afraid of. I’m kind of envious of that rape victim"

she might know about the whole “subjugate the world” plan that’s the reason the minotaurs built that maze.

@Meanlucario

to be fair, without that map, finding that maze would have been impossible. still a dick move though.

I think I know the game here. Lady Katrina hears that there is a human on the surface who is stupidly powerful, and that this human is friends with the two ponies that just stumbled into her lair. Now maybe in a normal circumstance, she’d have just sent them off with a bushwoolie to the surface and been done with them.

But she wants something. Something hidden in the minotaur kingdom that she knows they aren’t going to give her as long as they live. And so she devises a plan to turn our poor Anon into a weapon. Sends his friends into danger, and sets up a situation in which it’s clear nobody is going to talk things out, and just wait for the blood to stop flowing.

…also, I’ve been thinking it over further, especially the last panel.

RD hasn’t figured it out yet, but Applejack knows something’s not on the level here. She’s the Element of Honesty and she’s nobody’s fool.

The Bushwoolies have sent a messenger to the ponies with a sad story, and a suggestion of “hey, let’s you and him fight,” to create a conflict between minotaurs and ponies where none existed before. How do the Bushwoolies benefit from this? I don’t know. But something here isn’t on the level.

I may be the only one but I get the impression that no one is telling everyone the whole truth, or maybe even knows the whole truth.

The minotaurs we’ve seen seem gruff and direct, but not savage or even uncivilized. Otherwise they’d have just killed Cloudy and Marble out of hand, and eaten them, yes? They have a secret maze that they seem to think is so important that they can’t even let anyone else know it exists, and those two know the secret. If the minotaurs were unthinking savage monsters they’d just eat them–to protect the secret, and get a hot meal.

Also, none of the minotaurs we’ve seen yet looks the least bit undernourished, or even unhealthy. Which doesn’t square with the idea that they’re all hiding in a maze underground, starving, so hungry that they’re driven to try to eat creatures like Bushwoolies, though maybe everyone we’ve seen so far has been minotaur royalty.

Let me explain that last point. The Bushwoolies are kind of pitiful and unimpressive-looking, right? They’re maybe the size of a cat, I’m just guessing, based on their apparent size relative to ponies. Only, see–they’re much, much smarter than any prey animal above ground. They’re sophonts. They can speak and reason, and we’ve seen that they have hands and opposable thumbs. I don’t know what they are under all that fuzz. I don’t know what they evolved from, or even what creatures some powerful wizard mashed up to make them, other than that they seem mammalian–but they’re capable of using tools and weapons, making traps, using poisons. This isn’t like going out and hunting squirrels. They’re capable of planning, and cooperating–and fighting back effectively. If my next meal depended on my willingness to go crawling through a dark cave full of little creatures capable of sticking me full of poison arrows, or leading me to some kind of–well, imagine your basic “primitive people” hunting traps, like camouflaged pits with spikes at the bottom, or crossbows with poison darts set up on tripwires, or boobytraps that dump tons of boulders on whoever disturbs them–I would think of a Plan B.

And any group of intelligent creatures–and the minotaurs are implied to have an entire hidden civilization down there–that found itself in such situations regularly would, I think, start thinking very hard about farming mushrooms underground or fishing for whatever blind cave-fish live in the underground rivers, or maybe even comeing up to the surface world to practice agriculture.

Maybe the Bushwoolies even do think of the minotaurs as monsters that eat them, and maybe Arli’s account is the whole truth as far as she knows and understands it–but there has GOT to be more going on here than meets the eye.

Maybe the leader thinks that by asking the ponies to help the minotaurs will switch to eating ponies and leave the Bushwoolies alone.

Or give them something else to hunt while the Bushwoolies hide, a win-win situation for the Bushwoolies.

the young bushwoolie has some fire in her belly, something tells me she will give dashie a run for her bits in terms of harshn put downs.
