They continue you on, and Emerald asks what the other keys do.
 
“You know what they do. They are for my house in Whiterwater. Only some of the keys are for the dimensional jumps.” Joyride says, “Have to put it in an inanimate object. If you jump to a place where you can’t use magic or magic doesn’t exist and you don’t have keys like mine then you are boned. You can’t travel back. At least as far as I know.”
 
Emerald asks how long it’s been since they jumped worlds.
 
“Hmm… Probably about 1000 years.” Joyride says, tapping her chin.
 
“Wha- A thousand years?” Ruby says shocked.
 
“Just kidding.” Joyride says, grinning at Ruby’s annoyed face, “There isn’t any time difference. In most of the dimension time flows all the same.”
 
Emerald feels like he’s learned so much about magic in just this last half of the day. He asks Joyride what she thinks he can do to improve his magic, such as focusing his abilities rather than studying all he can.
 
“Do what you want, really. If you want to focus in on something go ahead. If you don’t, then don’t. In my opinion though you’ve just begun to scratch the surface of arcane knowledge. I’d suggest you get a little bit more well rounded before deciding that sort of thing.” Joyride says as they walk along.
 
“How much longer to the city anyway?” Ruby asks, trotting alongside the trio.
 
“Oh, few more hours. We’ll probably hit the city by nightfall.” Joyride responds.
