Interesting. They are around for a long time already, since a time where the fandom was a lot more active with background ponies. Guess they just didn’t draw the lucky card and the fandom was too occupied with other background ponies introduced at this time…..  
Still, they count. Even though they are older, they still get barely any fics, so they are suited for more variety in the fandom.  
I wrote something under this picture. Going ahead as a good example and showing that inspiration is everywhere.

Strike? Allie Way? There it already starts….. I have no idea who those ponies are.  
And that not just because I’m slacking with checking the wiki after new episodes, but also because no one’s doing anything with them.  
If I would have joined the fandom in 2011, I wouldn’t have been able to make two steps in it without hearing in some way who Lyra is and why she’s so special; be it in a fic, on Tumblr, on a fanart or in a comic.  
If no one’s creating art about background ponies, of course barely anyone will find out about them!

It’s my most successful fic so far since I started more than two years ago and has reached quite a popularity for the fact that I’m not well-known as an author yet. Made it into the Popular Stories box two times too.  
The achievements of an author with german as the first language.  
You can learn all of this, you only need to stop thinking “I can’t do this anyway…..” and start doing it!  
This is all a matter of disposition, not so much of talent, if you want to write, you CAN, and if you want to get better, you WILL get better, by hard work and dedication.  
If this is something you want, you should go for it. Give yourself a push and do it!

i always wanted to make a fic with ONLY background characters who never appear in fics that often, but i don’t think my writing skils are that good, i never writed anything. And also the fact that english is not my first language doesn’t help

Yep, not to mention, it would also allow for more flexibility as well, because no one wants to read the same fics the same characters over and over again.
 
Besides, so many background ponies have potential in my honestly opinion (I STILL think Strike would have been a great character to write for alongside his mother, Allie Way, but no one did anything with the poor kid).

What makes this really so worse is that, if the fandom continues like that, the creative portion of it will die out very soon. There are already noticeably fewer fics written per day than it was the case during Season 5.
 
Why is that? Because it gets boring to write for the same ponies over and over again and because it also gets boring for the readers to read only about these same ponies all the time, so they often don’t read such fics anymore, resulting in less views and thus less motivation for an author to write a fic at all.
 
That’s where the new background ponies would come in. All of them provide interesting and exciting backstory opportunities, much as like Lyra and Co. did back in the days, that just wait to be used.
 
Doing so would freshen up the fandom and stop the stagnation from getting worse and eventually let the amount of art increase again over time, so a switch to them by a large portion of the creatives in the fandom is sorely needed.  
The spirit of the fandom must be rekindled again.

Yeah, sadly, it does seem like that. It’s pretty much the mane 6, the princesses, the background 6 or the CMC nowadays.

Some do remember Chirpy, but it seems to be very rare when someone does and she still doesn’t get a whole lot of art and fics. No, in fact, it’s worse, she doesn’t get any fics anymore (and only got three or four in 2014 after her appearance in the show) and got only four pieces of art in the last two months.  
And it’s not just Chirpy with whom there is a problem, it affects all background ponies nowadays.  
The times where the fandom has written huge stories for background ponies via fics, askblogs, ect. seem to be gone, at least for now.

As the requester of this picture, I was actually planning on including Chirpy in this originally, but left her out since the picture was kind full as it was, though I do still have her in mind.

I hope so too. Chirpy Hooves was quickly forgotten. If you mention her name and ask someone if he knows her, all you get is a “Who?”.  
This fandom has really almost lost its reputation of taking a background pony and coming up with backstories for it, cause the new ones since Season 4 got barely any art or fics.  
Crackle Pop shall not meet this fate. This is a negative development that must turn around.

I’d honestly love to see him get as beloved as Dinky has myself, considering he is the 8th pegasus colt we’ve got and has some sort of relationship with Derpy as well.

Yeah, I hope his existence is fixed too, and we might see him again sometime :D

I just hope Crackle pop/bubble burst/whatever the fuck we’ve settled on has his status as cemented as Dinky.
