He is still older than the CMC, by a few years. Remember, he also grew up in Secret of my Excess. He retained his small, lovable stature due to his relationship with ponies, and his influence from the magic of friendship.
 
We can assume beyond reasonable doubt that he may be in his young teenage years, anywhere from 12-15, given his growth, relation to other younger characters, and maturity.

I don’t know why they did but Jim Miller said it was not up to him and Megan Mccathy said it be weird for Twilight carry a little boy in her bookbag and said dragon though portal doesn’t=same as pony.

Doesn’t matter if making him a dog would be relevant to the movie’s plot, that’s still not a good excuse for the writers not come up with a way to turn him into a human later. Despite Spike being a cute dog, he has no reason to be one.
 
For fucks sake, they made the Diamond Dogs human and Winona is still a dog, so what’s their excuse for not making him human too.

Trust me i didn’t like the Spike being a dog at first but i think because his age the way dragons age is a mystery and didn’t know what age he should be.

There would’ve been ways to go around that. The writers contradicted themselves by saying that since ponies and dragons are different species in Equestria, they would also be different in the human world. This is obviously not the case as several other species from Equestria are humans in the human world. Diamond Dogs, donkeys, sirens, and no doubt griffons as well. This is what’s more troublesome for me, alongside the fact that it is insulting to his character. That is a huge flaw in the logic that they established, and we can’t just sit and pretend it doesn’t exist. That’s bad writing.
 
Sure, he makes a cute dog, but that’s regardless. You can’t poke a huge hole in your reasoning and expect people not to bring it up.

Spike be a dog had it advantages for example if he was human the mane 5 would not believe Twilight truth about her and Spike come from a pony alternate world.Same for EQ3 if he was human he would not be able to go with Twilight to the friendship games because he would not been pick be part of it and he would not have been there to help Sunset Shimmer to beat Midnight Sparkle.
