@Mustachieo9 @Cpt Pudge Muffin
No need to be so disrespectful. All I am doing is pointing out flaws in the animation and trying to help the artist. I am not attacking or insulting anyone.
I find it ironic that this fandom will readily bash the show at the slightest fault yet cannot handle any criticism towards fan works unless they’re deemed acceptable targets like past sins, my little dashie, cupcakes, or blackgryph0n.
@Mike
I am not looking deeply into it. These are basic animation principals. And only listening to an echo chamber of praise will cause an artist to get worse because they will see no need to improve or maintain their skills.
@Ihhh
Maybe to you they’re distracting, but to 1600 other people, it doesn’t matter.
Anyway, I don’t really care, I’m not trying to prove you wrong, I was just pointing out that maybe you don’t need to look heavily into it.
But maybe you should ask the artist themselves.
@Mike
That is not an excuse nor an argument. Do not deflect my criticisms, especially since they’re not directed towards you. You asked me to explain myself and I did. If you don’t have any counterarguments than you have no way to prove me wrong. And I am not asking for something elaborate and complex, nor do I have any idea how you gathered that from my comment, as my criticisms are rather simple and will only seem complex to someone who doesn’t understand animation. The only reason I care about the flaws I pointed out is that they distract from the cuteness of the image and draw attention to themselves more than they draw attention to what the artist intended.
@Ihhh
Dude, it’s just a simple animation, I doubt the artist intended for it to be extremely complex and well-done, just a simple cute image, and judging by the score, and comments, I think it’s safe to say a lot of other people think so.
I think you’re looking a bit too deep into it.
@Mike
I explained what improvements it needed in my comment. To be more specific, many of the body parts are moving in sync, and the animation seems to lack any extreme or breakdown poses causing it to just move straight from one key pose to another, both of which gives the animation a very stiff and mechanical feel. An exception to the former is the overlapping action on her hair and ear, though that still looks stiff due to the latter and due to her hair behaving like a single solid mass rather than a bunch of strands. And before you say that it’s a stylistic choice, an artist needs to understand the rules before they can break them, otherwise their breaking of the rules will have unintended effects on the audience.
Ponies and their front legs are able to bend in just about every direction, so there is no need for them to use their hind legs like that… but it’s still cute.
