Yeah, kinda find that funny, I think I had a similar issue growing up though. Fine with yuri and all that but I developed some animosity towards yaoi. I think it’s because I pretty much saw it everywhere and they were usually very lewd or rapey, it didn’t help when I tried to be more open-minded and read yaoi/shounen-ai manga and all of them were no different from what I already seen, sometimes worse (I remember reading a one-shot where there was a gay couple who hadn’t had sex yet, the bottom finally decided he was ready, and then the older guy drugged him and handcuffed the guy’s hands and feet to a bed) while majority of yuri I saw was just cute fluff.  
I’m all for it now, yuri or yaoi, though I definitely didn’t like it years back.

Also, I didn’t say there was more gay then hetro’ pics, just that I often see more. You can’t go two pages without finding yuri, or something. So I honestly don’t see this site being homophobic barely at all.  
Heck, almost every brony I’ve known likes a lesbian pairing, and the most popular fan shippings I see are often not hetro’.

I actually remember this crazed anti-brony pegasister before, who was actually using that to demonize bronies. She kept complaining that there was “too much yuri,” and saying bronies are evil, and need to stop making it. Ironically, she loved yaoi, and stated there needs to be more of it. So she’s really no better.

I’m not generalizing the whole site all I said was you would be surprised at how many there are I’ve experienced at least 20 or so. The most prominent one who hasn’t gotten perma banned yet is Goremise who has wished death on users and said that gays should be raped to “fix them”. I find it funny because he’s also a huge hypocrite finding pics of gay females attractive >>1158540 (NSFW) yet he spews his hatred of them every other time.

If you check the shipping tags, there’s still more straight shipping (49k) images than lesbian ones (38k).  
On the other hand, gay is very small, only 10k.

I think it’s a li’l unfair to generalize this site like that. Seriously, I see more lesbian shipping pics on this site then hetro’ ones. If anything, bronies are one of the most homosexual-shipping or Yuri obsessed fanbases I’ve ever seen. Almost the complete opposite of homophobic.
 
I’ve only seen like 2 or 3 openly homophobic people here on Derpi, and they were just random anon’s.

I feel like one reaction would be two best friends who decided they wanted to raise a child together.
 
They actually did this for Harvest Moon DS Cute, where the player is female and some special marriage partners were girls, however instead of wife or a wedding like in the original game, it was “best friend” and “friend ceremony” in the Cute version. Your “best friend” would live in the same house as you and you even get to raise a child together. What’s even better is that they didn’t change any dialogue from the original version to the girl version of the game for the special partners. TOTALLY NO HOMO

It would be a pretty mixed bag of reactions but there would be no shortage of drama, seriously you would be surprised how many homophobic people there are in this fandom and just on this site alone and they lack the ability to keep it to themselves.
 
I remember when America fully legalized same sex marriage and someone made a lyrabon pic to celebrate it was just a clusterfuck of homophobes screaming and wishing death on everyone.
