I didn’t say they were useless. The comic suggests that Twi somehow “sucks” because she doesn’t have guards and I was saying that she and her friends can hold their own.

Celestia and Cadance and Luna are not useless, they can fight too. I feel like Twilight really should get at least one guard. I’ve been saying as much since Season 4 started.

Well, she’s not a tall stick figure like the others, because she looks better like this :p But in the show, more because she’s only been an alicorn for a year or so, probably.
And she’s not off in a distant castle maybe because she wants to live near her friends and she has a palace of her own, now?
No guards because that would change the dynamic of the show too much and make her feel too distant - no real good in-show reason, though.
