First I was a bit confused by the acronym CME – then I remembered it’s a coronal mass ejection, not solar. :P

I find it hilarious how exaggerated this graphic is. That’s looks more akin to a supernova point-blank, or a gamma ray burst hitting us. Not a solar flare, or even a CME. Those CGI people sure had fun with that!

This was not the edit we were looking foward to.
