Unfortunately, I have almost no cooking experience… I can make an omelette and bake a potato in a microwave, but that probably won’t cut it.
Oh noe badumsquish has found a new object/food pone, inb4 more art of her
@Wertyla
@Keith Mowz
I tried it once, when delivering something north of the border. It’s hard to believe but yes it is that delicious. Like you have no idea at all until you’ve tried it.
They can argue that it is this sacred mana that is only obtainable in a limited geographical location, but I’m still gonna have to contend that there is nothing inherent to the food that prevents you from making it elsewhere in the world.
It requires fresh cheese curds? So make fresh cheese curds. Wah.

Maybe. You speak of it (or write of it, rather) like it’s the food of the gods… and I may never get to try it!
You only say that because you’ve never had poutine.
Wow. I hope you don’t live too far away… It sounds like a waste of gas to me.
Poutine really is that amazing. Later this summer, I’m going to drive to Wisconsin soley to acquire fresh cheese curds for poutine. That’s how good it is.
>poutine not earth-shatteringly important
>POUTINE NOT EARTH-SHATTERINGLY IMPORTANT
…i politely disagree.
@Keith Mowz
Can’t be that great if only the best poutine is worth eating. :3c
I think I’ve made it clear that I’ve never had poutine… but I can’t imagine that it’s earth-shatteringly important.
if you don’t think poutine qualifies, then you’ve never had poutine. accept no substitutes.
There are some things that shouldn’t be compromised… I’m not sure food qualifies, though.
yup. i’m normally a man of compromise, but homemade poutine is like substituting macaroni and cheese for kraft dinner. it just doesn’t do the real stuff any justice.
Did I really just start an argument on here about poutine? Wow…
there are two kinds of people in the world. people who think you can make decent poutine, and people who have had real poutine.
seriously, “fries, gravy, and cheese” will make about as good of poutine as “chicken, pot, and pie” will make chicken pot pie.
For proper poutine, it can’t be just any cheese, though. It has to be fresh cheese curds, and those are only readily available in a few places outside of Canada like Wisconsin, Northern Michigan, and Upstate New York.
Do I have to repeat myself?
Just make it. Let all the poutine weirdos say all they want that you have to buy it from somewhere.
Fries
Gravy
Cheese
Make it yourself.
I live nowhere near there… so no poutine for me, I guess.
You can occasionally find it in Michigan’s upper peninsula and Wisconsin.
Fries? :D
With gravy? :I
and cheese? D:
you can’t just… “cook” poutine. you gotta get it fresh. trust me, i’m french canadian (originally). i know my poutine. it’s a rare and precious thing. you gotta get it from a restaurant or food truck that knows their shit or it’s not even worth getting.
I guess I’ll either try to brush up on my cooking skills or go without, then.
no, poutine really has to be eaten right after it’s made. otherwise the fries get all soggy and eugh
Edited
My area doesn’t have food trucks… Hmm. I could probably order it online. You can find ANYTHING online. I don’t think it would travel well, though. Maybe not.
