How does that make him 16? We don’t know the exact age of Twilight. She could easily be 20, which would make him 13. And that’s assuming that it is an exact 7 years. I used that an estimate, he could be 9 or 10 years younger than her. And this argument gets repeated since some are so adamant in arguing against every known source by saying he’s not a baby. Usually just because they see it as an insult to him.
 
Also, using buck instead of fuck? Seriously? That pun has been awful since the fandom first thought of it.

P.S. For buck sake, this discussion was repeated over and over and over, everything that needed to be said was already said. Just read any pics tagged “Spike,Shipping” that have over 80 comments, and you’ll find different people making same point over and over again.

Honestly, it could happen. Show has shown that it’s not afraid to break Status Quo with Twi’s coronation, Library destruction, CMC’s cutie marks, etc. Maybe it would be not even wings, but something even more… drastic.
Indeed. I’d be happy with just wings though. A temporary growth into teenage size would be cool too, but only if its temporary. I want Spike to remain his current size but show he’s on his way to be a full dragon someday.
 
And the wings are the pefect way for that :)

^ How do you know? What’s the source in the show; ponies who admit they know NOTHING about dragons to the point that Spike couldn’t see a doctor there if he was sick?
 
He’s a good seven years younger than Twilight. Probably the same age as the CMC. Yes, a 12 year old or so would be a baby for a species that lives for centuries. Not to much how much smaller he is compared to even the teenage dragons.

Spike’s dad isn’t a “non-canon” character. He’s quite simply an absolute unknown. You said Ember should be bigger than Spike because her dad is huge, but we have no clue how big Spike’s dad is.

You’ve stopped making sense. So since using certain sources gets you a bad grade, then that means that source is necesarily wrong? Ie Wiki is always wrong? I’m pretty sure it lists several official show descriptions that list Spike as a “baby dragon”. I find it hard to believe some are still trying to refute this at this point just cause wiki says it.

There’s also Spike just being a whole other type of dragon entirely. The no wings and magic fire breath should be obvious clues.
Not having wings doesn’t mean he’s a different kind of dragon. He’s the only dragon that size we’ve seen so far, so its entirely possible they just grow them later. As for his magic fire, that can be explained many ways that have nothing to do with his race, such as Celestia personally teaching him or being a side-effected of being hatched with magic, etc.

And yet, how much of a coincidence it is that aside from his obviously mutant-like butt/tail, he’s the only dragon so far to be about the same height as Spike? Considering how many dragons we’ve already seen (all of which have wings) then I say chances are this guy’s also too young to have them.

That’s actually…a very interesting point.  
For all the drama about Spike’s and Rarity’s age difference, chances are Ember is waaaaay older than the Mane6.
