How does that make any sense? The movie was announced before any announcement of a season 7, and the toy fair said season 6 would tie into the movie, which would make it very difficult to create any episodes in-between the finale and the movie that don’t feel like they’re dragging out the intervening time.

Why are you assuming that? If you had read any of my previous comments, you’d know that I said the exact opposite of that, but since then, I’ve began to lose interest in the show and I can’t think of any way they could keep it going after the movie.

Wouldn’t be an unheard-of practice; iirc Uncle Grandpa had its last season ordered “officially” as a full season, but split in two and presented as two separate seasons to the public. And there’s speculation that the same may have happened to Steven Universe and its recent new season announcement.
 
That said, a recent-ish Miller interview on EqD gave the impression of there being years more to the show, and at the very least I can imagine Hasbro will want to keep new episodes coming as they lead up to the movie, rather than a year-long+ gap.

Writers are freelance and are based in the United States, and are not part of DHX.
 
Episodes are also worked on concurrently, so it’s entirely possible that some episodes from next season are already being storyboarded.

I know they started season 6 storyboards while season 5 was “half finished production” (whatever that means) in order to have a March premiere.

Does DHX encompass the entire production process? Are the writers part of DHX?
 
During march season 7 should be being written. MAYBE storyboarding could have started by march but I really wonder.
 
The reason why I’m skeptical is because DHX is still working on season 6 (not only has it been already stated by a crew member on twitter, but they also commented that the final episodes of season 5 had been airing only a little while after they were finished). We already got burned last year with the season 6 is airing later in 2015 thing which turned out to just be a hiatus for the second half of season 5.
 
It’s still a possibility that Hasbro could be cutting season 6 in half and airing the other half in 2017, ending the show with the movie in november 2017.
 
However, it will be very strange and interesting if we do get a full 26 episodes this year and a full 26 episodes next year because I’m sure the movie’s script has been locked in for a while now, so they’re going to have to keep changes to the status quo on the minimum in order to not conflict with the movie. I’m interested to see what if anything they do with Starlight Glimmer in the movie.
 
Last year we got confirmation of Season 6 on march 31st 2015. I do hope for official confirmation this year soon.
