I'm aware of the JREF and it's work. I just wondered what the actual understanding generally was.

 

Then according to wiki, studies are inconclusive, but generally it doesnt seem to go beyond a placebo affect.

If you want an explanation of the theory behind it, I can supply one, so I "understand" what it is in that sense.

I don't believe in it. Anyone who's observed that tapwater - a liquid which has, in the course of its existence, come into contact with every possible compound, poison and medication on the planet, and then been diluted thousands of millions of times over - fails to cure illnesses, has immediate proof that homoeopathy is bollocks.

I'm inclined to agree with Sully on this. Homeopathy is, I believe, #117 on the official list of time-honored ways to separate trusting people from their money.

It originated from Germany, a method of treating ailments by oral globules containing therapetic qualities, primarily introducing reverse effect of the known ailment-this system of medicine is wiely practised in India

James Randi said homeopathy was the equivalent of dropping single tablet of aspirin in Lake Taho and then stirring vigorously, then waiting for two years and drinking some of the water to relieve a headache.

There will always be heartfelt testimonials for things like this, trumpet. People will claim that they were cured of terminal cancer, that their doctors had told them they have three days to live, etc. But where's the careful, controlled research?

 

hm kinda weird to say yes now with all this opposition, but I used it yes....and its effectiveness can be questioned, I do know that.

It is basically a way of treating people in a more natural way...medicine that isn´t as strong and chemical as common medicine....

I wouldn´t recommend it if you have a serious issue, but no homeopathic doctor would...

It is a decision most people make because they don´t want to let strong medicine attack their bodies all the time...like getting antibiotics all the time, flu shots etc. "poisioning" the body with all this strong medicine, and trying to fight against illnesses in a more natural way....

it is not something that´s only used to try to get your money, they are normal docs with the same degree as other doctors and its not some humbug like I put my hand on your knee and you´ll be healed

So if it's not medicine containing strong chemicals, what is it, exactly, Jamie? I assume you'll have looked into that before using it.

And are the Homeopaths actual medically qualified doctors? You're in germany, right? Is Homeopathy just part of the normal healthcare system there? In the UK we have Homeopathic Hospitals as part of the NHS.

hm I wouldn´t really call myself an expert....I kind of grew up with it, so I didn´t really read anything and only know the basics, i have been coming in touch with it through Anthroposophical medicine....often it is connected with placebo-effect...I´ll give an example...if you tell me you´re having a headache and I would give you a regular vitamin C tablet, but tell you it is a pain killer, you would perhaps feel like the headaches are going away, solely because you think you took medicine....

I do know that alle homeopathic doctors over here are qualified doctors....at least the ones that have their own doctors office or work as you say in a homeopathic hospital....but it is wrong to think they only do homeopathic medicine...they try to keep it that way, but once you have something that needs serious attention you will get professional care....

often they use homeptahic medicine for chronic diseases, like headahces, etc....it helps me and I know I am not taking strong medicine all the time, as that wouldn´t be good for my body and it would get resistant to it too

I think you shouldn´t do everything through homeopathic care, you really have to differenciate, but it sure isn´t just a lie

I am sure you can read something on wikipedia if you want to have information on the exact theories

But I know the medicine and doctors get tested and everything, so they are legitimate
