(but I do actually kind of agree, I feel it would have been a decent stand alone episode for twilight, but is HIGHLY subpar for what I expect for a finale for a season since those are held to a higher standard.

There’s more than a few people who have issues with The cutie remark though, much more than the S4 finale or the S5 premier at least.  
(Starlight’s characterization change and backstory plus the other 5 being just cameos for example)

Yes, Bloom and Gloom is one of episodes that saves Season 5 and makes it great.

yeah, I was really sad to see that, after they managed to turn things around for RR they immediately turned things in reverse and undid all the progress they’d made :(

I don’t think I want a writer who wrote shit like The Cutie Remark and the underwhelming FG as showrunner.

That’s actually surprisingly accurate except the part about Principal Cinch. Sunset at least had an interesting backstory. Cinch was just a scapegoat that takes all the blame off SciTwi and a Spotlight stealer.

I couldn’t help but notice that FG had just about every problem that EqG1 had, just in other forms. Here’s some examples off the top of my head:
 
A contrived and nonsensical plot element that the story hinges on. EqG1: Sunset’s evil plan. FG: Twi’s magic capture device.
 
An uninteresting one-note villain. EqG1: Sunset Shimmer. FG: Principal Cinch.
 
Superfluous “supporting” Characters. EqG1: Flash Sentry. FG: All of the Shadowbolts.
 
A scene where everyone grabs the idiot ball and epically fails to notice something completely obvious. EqG1: Cut-and-paste Photoshop. FG: magical plants attacking the motocross race.
 
It’s especially galling given that Rainbow Rocks was totally absent of any of these problems.

You didn’t like “Bloom and Gloom”? I’d say that’s my favorite of his episodes. “Leap of Faith” was just OK, though, and “The Cutie Re-Mark”, while having some great scenes, was definitely less than the sum of its parts.

that was a horrible Cluster**** of a movie with massive numbers of aborted plotlines still cluttering it up.
 
The S5 finale was a huge step down from larsons premier as well. Not looking forward to haber taking the reins.

I’m pretty sure Meghan’s still involved with season 6, though. That said, though, you may be right in that she passed those duties down to others due to being busier with her new position at Hasbro.
