Our dog Rascal got on in age. We knew walking was getting painful for his back legs, but we tried everything we could to ease it for him. Pills worked for a while, but then one night, we found him laying in his favorite spot in the backyard, backside covered in poop. He was in so much pain that it was easier just to lie there instead of getting up and doing it cleanly.
 
After Mom and Dad brought him to the patio to wash him off… We spent a few hours saying our goodbyes.
 
The next morning…
 
I miss that dog.

Sigh. Its always easier to kill than to help them, isn’t it?
 
I had a pet cat that spent a week dying in our bathroom. Mom was in one of her moods and wouldn’t let us take my cat to the vet. I spent all my time comforting her, trying to get her to eat and drink, and even praying for her to get better, but there was nothing I could do.
 
I would have given up 5 or 10 years of my life if it would have made my cat healthy again.
