Undertale tells a much more compelling story, and has surprisingly good characters, much like FiM. FNaF, not to diss it, was a simple jumpscare game.

I don’t know enough about FNAF, but a lot of people have been saying Undertale is a more substantial game, so that would logically lead to it having more of a lasting impact.

Not exactly.  
I’d have just expected Undertale to sort of fade out by now, akin to FnAF.  
Five Nights isn’t as popular as it was when it first came out, so I expected Undertale to be the same.  
I still it all over DeviantArt, and now we’ve got more here, too.
