I’m not certain enslave is the right word for turning someone into your child basically… subjugate maybe, but keep in mind Chrysalis wanted Equestria to feed her subjects. I see her as a pretty good ruler actually.
Headcanon for me is they were just marinating her before eating all that delicious love the kingdom had for her. Probably could sustain them for a looong time.
After all, couldn’t have a usurped monarch still running around.
Headcanon: The cocoon was meant to turn Celestia into a Changeling. Chrysalis didn’t just want to defeat her; she wanted to enslave and subjugate her in the most total way possible. But it only worked halfway, and only served to give Celestia the powers of a Changeling: shapeshifting and growing powerful off of love.
As the most loved pony in all of Equestria, she can now crush any who oppose her like a rotten grape.
