Reminds me of when me and a buddy watched the Breezie Episode. He said the best ending ever would have been if Twilight tried to change them back, didn’t have enough magic as a breezie, and looked at the camera like “I’ve made a terrible mistake” all ominous like.

I’m a huge nerd, as well as kind of a geek, and so sentient and sapient getting mixed up is like a pet peeve of mine. For some reason. A tiny one, not a big one because I know most people don’t know this. Now, a big pet peeve of mine is the ‘Human’s only use 10% of their brain’s potential’ nonsense, or other such variations of that, so as long as none of your pictures or comics mentions that I should be able to lock my ‘nerd rage’ inside.

I agree. Then again, I think of all inter-species conflicts in terms of Darwinian survival, so I think wiping out or dominating a competing or prey species is perfectly acceptable. To the ponies, the changelings are all Zerg. To the changelings, the ponies are all Jimmy Dean. Philosophy kind of gets left by the wayside in the exchange.  
I could totally see her helping Equestria to fight off some world-ending threat, though. Anything that could wipe out Equestria is threatening her food supply >:D

Sapient, not sentient. All animals with neurons are sentient to some degree, so sapient is the word you are looking for. It’s why our species is called Homo Sapiens Sapiens after all. The double sapiens is because our species also have huge egos.

Ha ha, yeah. It’s never something I’d take seriously (cartoon and all), but it does make for some easy pickings for slavery and Nazism-type jokes. For me, poking fun at Twilight for doing evil and abominable stuff is a source of comedy, but not something I actually take seriously (she’s one of my favorite characters, for one thing).

Chrysalis is a funny case for me. Some people see her as just doing what comes naturally for her species and others see her as a straight forward evil-to-the-core monster. I see her as both. Kind of like a vampire. If anything, I’d love to see her come back and be forced to team up with the ponies to fight a worse threat. Imagine royal guards AND changelings vs one even worse foe.

Well, Chrysalis hardly even qualifies as a monster, even if Twilight does. She didn’t brainwash a species, just one guy. And she did it as part of her basic survival mechanism, too. I’m pretty sure there’s a bylaw that justifies that as self-defense.

Equestria is a crazy world. Solar cycle, weather, and seasons can’t even be trusted to regulate themselves, and there’s a disturbing number of magical alpha predators within hiking distance of populated areas. Mind control is probably the most reasonable and least painful solution to an ecosystem that is otherwise extremely violent and destructive and seems to NEED ponies to be in control.

I know, right? It always bugged me that animals seemed as intelligent as ponies, yet weren’t capable of even surviving by themselves. Behavior alteration spells give a clue as to why, I guess. Crazy world.

To be honest I was mostly being tongue-in-cheek, but I’ve always just found the whole idea of brainwashing to be real creepy. True it’s being used on “animals”, but said animals are clearly sentient… just like the ponies.
