Given that Chrysalis was cocky enough to turn her back to the unrestrained heroes and dismissed their attempt to defeat her with the exact same power that gave her enough of a boost to defeat Celestia…I don’t think Chryssi ever had that much common sense to begin with.

I imagine that is the changelings standard MO. Just Chrysalis is greedy and/or impatient. The all-out assault is much faster and provides a larger ‘harvest’ than the slow and steady method.

Come to think of it…given that they’re shapeshifters, wouldn’t it make more sense for the changelings to have launched a V style assault, presenting themselves as friendly outsiders and slowly getting attached to the ponies and draining love a little bit at a time, rather than just an all-out assault? Less suspicious that way. Granted, replacing one of the leaders still makes sense.

Yeah, it just nose-dived in quality out of nowhere. I’m guessing Hasbro stepped in and took more “creative” control [we know for a fact that they put strict limitations on what villains could be used for the ‘Siege’ arc…hence why we got Iron Will and Lightning Dust suddenly being baddies.]

Well as bad as the MLP comics having gotten I wish people wouldn’t be all “F IDW!”
 
Since despite the drop in quality in this there are much better titles published by IDW.

As bad as the IDW comics have gotten, I’ve always tried to remain at least semi-optimistic and calm some of the more “vocal” haters on the forums. But yeah…this was the point of no return.

Y’know, it’s almost funny. The IDW comics arrived when the show seemed to be declining in quality with Season 3…and then the comics started to tank when the show reached mid-Season 4 and escaped its dork age
 
It’s like the comics were Mary Poppins: arriving, brightening up the fandom’s livelihood until the show improved, then departing when its work was done.
