If it makes you feel better, God isn’t actually all seeing and all knowing. I read a bit of the Bible’s first story and when God tried to find Adam and Eve, they had to call out that they were hiding because God couldn’t find them. Not only that, but God had to piece together from what they said to figure out that they had eaten from the Tree of Knowledge.

Faith is overrated. I would prefer something based on trust.
 
Because as it stands now, the judeo-christian concept of God makes me so paranoid that I wish I was dead for fear of what unknowable rules I might break if I continue breathing. A being that can decide absolute right and absolute wrong, and can change the rules on a whim, one that’s simultaneously everywhere and nowhere, knowing and seeing everything, it’s like a cross between Lovecraft and Orwell.
 
Plus if I disagree with the dogma, which I do on certain points, that basically means I’m evil no matter what my reasons for doing so, right?

In all fairness, if any religious group managed to bring a genuine, tangible deity to my door, I’d hear them out.

Possibly? Probably depends on the timeframe. For a long time that was probably the case, as Nightmare Moon seemed to be considered, at most, a mythological figure when the series started (though who knows how long that took to happen after the banishment, probably at least one generation) but then Cadence came along and became the second alicorn princess is the eyes of the public. At least until Luna’s return and Cadence retroactively became known as the third.

During Princess Luna’s banishment, did most ponies think there was only one alicorn princess? :o
