You sure about that? I’ve always been under the impression “love and tolerate” started out as a joke and only newer fans actually took it seriously; going so far as to constantly repeat the phrase to fit in.

I was there when it happened. I helped coin the slogan. It was the original foundation of the fandom back in the day and I’m /disgusted/ that it’s fallen so far.

I’ve been told that “love and tolerate” was a joke rather than a rallying cry by a good couple dozen bronies, at least; only three or four have said it was ever taken seriously.
And the reason I was only harassed for a couple of weeks was because after the episode aired, I shut up about it; I figured if MMC didn’t change their minds, there was no way I was going to.
Also, it’s been years since then. Two weeks by a small amount of people who were in the wrong vs. years of nearly being bullied out of the community. Hmmm…. something doesn’t seem ‘fair’ about that.

I dunno, I’ve had it drilled into my head repeatedly over the past 3.5 years that this community was built around a show that people in the community liked to watch, no more, no less, and telling jerks they should be better behaved because of “love and tolerate” or some variation thereof was wrong and exclusionary.

About 40% of the community dislikes Twilight being an alicorn in the show. The VAST majority of people in that camp are bullied into silence by people like you. That’s a fact. I speak to people literally every day who are too intimidated to make any comments at all concerning their opinions because of people who attack them continually for it like you do. I am not the kind of person to take that lying down.
