Since alicorns can transfer magic energy through unihorns, that must be what Cadance did to Shining in that scene, ‘magic of love’ be damned.

She only won because of bullshit anyways because apparently making the Mane 5 go OOC and turn on Twilight was the only way to make threatening in the first place. It’s even worse when you consider she didn’t think she was actually going to win. The only thing I’ll give Chrysalis that’s “smart” in her plan was she actually blocked off the elements of harmony but otherwise sorry but Chrysalis wasn’t competent. She was just less stupid than the protagonist.

I’m not saying she’s an idiot. She’s not. She’s overconfident in her own abilities and doesn’t want to see any flaws, which opens up holes in her plans. She also has a habit of prematurely celebrating, which lead to her defeat twice.

She didn’t use lurv magics they didn’t do anything shit just randomly spewed from their horns and won the day with no explination of what it was how it worked why it happened or why they could never do it again it was deus ex machina bullshit that was shoehorned into the ending for convenience.

You know, I enjoyed Chrysalis. She was just so over the top and so ‘evil’ and sure of herself, but she wasn’t perfect. That’s why I enjoyed her. It was like watching Doctor Evil, but she has magic on her side.

Except she didn’t need to kill them she beat Celestia she could take them easily while her subjects fed I mean yes she should have killed them would have been smarter but it wasn’t needed.
 
You can shape it however you want but there is no getting around the fact she only lost because the plot demanded it and a bullshit unseen power was thrown in at the last minute.
 
Point is there is a huge difference between IDW and the show Chrysalis you would have to be blind not to see it.

I watched the episode. Chrysalis was chewing every bit of scenery she could and she lost, because she’s the kind who overconfident. Yes, turn your back on your enemies, or put them in places and assume they’ll not escape.
 
DOn’t get me wrong, I love Chrysalis, but she was not infallible.

Queen Chrysalis seems wary of Sombra’s intention of releasing the umbrum forces since her Changeling army was already promised by Radiant Hope with being able to feed on the emotion of the ponies of Equestria if they helped her restore Sombra to flesh and blood. Plus, Chrysalis seems to know about the umbrum forces as well and understands why Sombra wants to free them.
 
I sense a betrayal looming with Chrysalis and her Changelings defecting if Sombra double-crosses them by fulfilling his original goals from 1,000 years prior instead of keeping Radiant Hope’s end of their original agreement…

If you can’t see a difference between IDW Chrysalis and the show one you just aren’t looking like at all seriously IDW Chrysalis is like a petulant child with no tactful planning what so ever she just shows up undisguised and gets her royal bug butt kicked every. single. time. At least in the show she made a thought out plan and a back up plan which worked by the way but lost out due to a deus ex machina love bomb.
 
And though it’s debatable whether she fully cares for her subjects like children one thing is clear in the comics she treats them like shit throwing them at enemies and treating like little welps.
 
Her origin in the comics was lazy as well she was just born evil nothing more no build up to it no interesting back story she just was because reasons, how lazy can someone be to write that and think eh good enough.
 
Comic Chrysalis is in no way similar to the show and it’s pretty pathetic really I can hardly stand looking at her in the comics.

in the comic, she played the same tactics over and over, effective but out of incompetence on her opponents par rather then any skill on hers
