Sunset: …
Twilight: Ruminate for as long as you need to. The portal to Equestria is always open, and I’m always willing to pull strings to make you a citizen again.
Sunset: Thanks Twilight. I guess this is now the part where you head back to Equestria in time for an incident to occur.
Twilight: After what I’ve been through recently; I think I’ll stay here for a while. Maybe take an observer’s position in these- what do you call them- Friendship Games?
Sunset: The stuff you’ve been through probably wasn’t that bad-
Twilight: Ever imagined a world where I WASN’T there to stop you? Yeah, that was the kind of stuff I saw recently.
Edited because: deleting my redundant comment
While I can imagine the differences between her birth world and the one she lives in would cause her some issues, I can’t see boredom causing her to return. For now, the human world seems to be where her life is and where the people she cares about are. She seems happy enough there, and we haven’t been shown much to suggest she’d be happier back in Equestria.
Now, if she were to feel uncomfortable in this world, like she doesn’t belong, that could be different.
What’s interesting for someone isn’t always the only factor in what makes them happy. Not to mention she was raised in Equestria, so she might not be as tired of the human experience as some of us are.
That said, the movies always have a magical threat and I’d think that using that setting more would mean they continue down that path. It’s been established that magic, once it reaches the human world, can be unpredictable. That’s the part I think has the potential: the old rules don’t apply, so there’s an “anything can happen” kind of vibe, I guess.
What’s more entertaining to you =/= What is more interesting to this character
Your logic makes no sense. The simple fact is that Sunset, like a lot people I would imagine, would find her life more interesting living a life of adventure in a world filled with magic where she is someone important versus being just some girl, living in some small, podunk town, going to class and writing book reports.
They aired two Transformers shows at once, so while it’s unlikely, it’s hardly impossible.
I agree, but I don’t see them running two MLP shows at once.
Then again, Littlest Pet Shop ends this season…
I honestly think that an EqG show could work out if they wanted to do one.
At the very least they should do more shorts. and not release them all so close to the movies. Spread them out a bit throughout the year.
@TheOtakuX
My vote would be for sometimes focusing on magic, and sometimes having the focus on the other thing the EqG setting has to offer: the quirky characters, particularly those whose Equestrian counterparts are unlikely to show up in FiM. Though what’s really needed is more screen time, seventy minutes once a year isn’t a whole lot to work with.
Re: thread: I’ve been enjoying Equestria Girls more consistently than the show itself lately, though my feelings on that are complicated.
Well, more power to you, then. And I’m sincere about that.
@Evil Emperor Proteus
Some people have different tastes. Although yeah, I can’t deny that EqG without magic would of course be boring.
@Background Human
It’s like Rwa Bhineda, a Balinese concept in which two differences fulfill each other (not unlike yin-yang, which is a Chinese concept).
Still kidding, but maybe he himself is boring? <w<
Sounds very boring.
@DAPLR
Not to dogpile, but I’d like to throw in another vote for the magical-girl stuff. I’m as big a fan of EqG as you’ll find on this site, but one of my biggest criticisms of the series is that they haven’t done enough to make Canterlot High a compelling setting on its own. (When you’re trying to spin off a show where the setting, the magical land of Equestria, is one of the big draws, that’s kind of a problem.) If it weren’t for the portal to Equestria, the place would be rather boring and generic, even by fictional high school standards. Now to be fair they’ve been taking some steps to correct that, with things like Vinyl’s Transformer and Sci-Twi’s inventions, but we’re still nowhere near the point that the ponies can be safely kicked to the curb. And frankly, even if they could, they shouldn’t. The two worlds together make for a more interesting universe than either one on its own.
@atalarikt
Disagree entirely. I’d prefer if they did the opposite, and removed magic entirely.
Gotta agree with that somehow, even though I’m also an EqG fan and in fact started knowing more about MLP from it.
I don’t watch Friendship is Magic, but I’m not sure I agree in General Terms. While I enjoy Equestria Girls more, it’s just my personal taste and preference that I find it more enjoyable. What I would find more “Interesting” in general terms is if Equestria Girls became entirely about uncovering magic, solving arcane and paranormal mysteries and dispensing of magical/mythical/paranormal threats. The High School setting is actually one of the weakest aspects of Equestria Girls in my opinion.
Any sane human being would say that. You’d have to be crazy to think the show is more interesting than the movies.
I don’t understand how any sane human being can look at what you typed and think to themselves “Yeah, that seems completely rational!”
This thread is genious. XD
Wow, okay.
Magical Humans in High School is definitely more interesting.
