I like the way you think. I guess “Colgate” is still a really popular name to refer to her by. People like the way it sounds (originally I disliked the name Minuette, but you’re right, it is both cute and dignified) and have kept it going, unlike Bulk Biceps’ fan names.

Honestly, just a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Nothing too serious. It bothers me a bit that we still call Minuette Colgate. I always accepted Colgate as more of a joke name because of her coat and mane color, and her not really having any established character. But, I also always thought it was dumb that we named her after a brand of toothpaste either way. Like, you could make the argument that Derpy was a name we only gave to that pony because of her eyes. But, at least it’s not a product brand. Calling her Colgate makes me cringe a little. Not to mention that the name Derpy has a lot of meaning and history to the fandom. And, it suits the character that the creators actually went with. It also bothers me that Lyra would still be called Lyra despite her looking like toothpaste too.
 
And, it isn’t even because I have a problem with the dentist headcanon. I think that we could go with Minuette despite that. It’s just, Minuette sounds cuter; more dignified; ties to her cutie mark. And, she has now been more thoroughly identified as Minuette thanks to ’Amending Fences’. Her house is an hour glass for crying out loud. It just all sits better with me, at this point. I mean, Bulk Biceps was a background character that we had a bunch of weird names for before his real name became canon. And, those pretty much aren’t relevant anymore. Then there’s Carrot Top, who is technically Golden Harvest. I know Carrot Top comes from an old, stand up comedian. But, it is just very fitting as a side name for Golden Harvest that sounds just as good for her as Golden Harvest.
 
I don’t know. I just think Colgate is dumb. You can disagree if you want.
