“Hello would you like to donate funds to my new goat friend pretty pretty pretty please? If you do I’ll be your best friend…okay I’ll be your best friend anyways but please give me some money.”
5 hours left and we are at $558,064. Just $2,000 more and the goat will get her stage and story mode. We are getting there! Just a little bit more! Things are getting exciting on the final stretch!
sorta kinda, but in terms of being indie or not, having a publisher isn’t just a source of funding, but also someone who, like i mentioned earlier, controls certain aspects of the game. Like release dates and such.
the whole point of being “indie” is that the developer has complete control over the development of their project. they set their own deadlines, they get to choose what kind of game it is, they get to choose what kind of plot it has, etc.
under a publisher like Activision or something, they’re gonna do stuff like demand that you have the game ready in time for a Christmas release, and the developer just has to suck it up and do it because the publisher has their money. and there have been many games that fell far short of what they could be because they got rushed out for a holiday release before they were really finished.
so that’s the whole point of being indie- you have full creative and managerial control of the project.
@Pagan
Well, i’d say it’s gotten quite a bit of attention, wouldn’t you?
We’ll have to wait and see how large it gets, hopefully people don’t lose interest.
@Blissey1
Weeeeeellll they don’t need a publisher, they can be their own publisher.(also doesn’t indiegogo count as a publisher?)
@zippysqrl
actually it only means developed independently of a publisher.
you can still have monetary support and be indie, that monetary support just can’t be coming from some big company that dictates deadlines and such for the game.
