Season 6 Episode Discussion [Speculation/Theories/Beware of Spoilers]

Pomegranates :P
What else to look for in season 6 other than Flutterbro and possibly more map episodes? Anyone know what kind of villain they can go for this time?

Maybe actually go to some zebra village or anything zebra really that’s not named Zecora

Honestly, I’d be okay with the premiere being a slice-of-life episode focused on Twilight, Shining and Cadence. Considering the writers lackluster track-record with adventure episodes, maybe it’d be for the best. Not to mention we might get some much-needed character development for Cadence and Shining.

I’d like to see Scorpan return, but in a way where he is caught between his alliance with the ponies and his love for his brother.
Like Tirek escapes again, but there is a casualty this time or something. The ponies decide Tirek is simply too dangerous to keep alive (Hey, they blew up Sombra, didn’t they?). Scorpan, hearing the plan to execute his brother, breaks him out of jail when the ponies refuse to call off the punishment. As a result, Scorpan feels trapped between keeping his brother alive, which would mean betraying the ponies.
Only that might be a wee bit too dark for this show :P

I think we kind of settled this by PM but yes, when every 2nd post from someone is “fuck SL” damn right I’m gonna comment on that.
(And s/he still didn’t stop…)
Opinions are fine, but making needless drama spread accross every topic accross the whole board is not a-okay, that’s all I’m asking.
(And if I’m petty, then what do you call those anti-SL comments that do not add anything, just repeat the same hyperboles again and again.)

Alright, I edited my post to be a more generic statement. Sorry I slipped up like that. I’ll confine any comments about Glimmer to the Glimmer thread.

I’m sorry too!
Arguing about people arguing…It’s a very grown up-like mistake. I slip.
Also, I made a picture!

While I suspect that the CMC episodes in season 6 will focus on them helping new characters we’ve never seen before. I hope one of the episodes involves Trixie.
Trixie most likely believes that her cutie mark meant she was gifted in magic, but after boast busters and magic duel, Trixie now doubts what her cutie mark is suppose to mean.

I really hope they stop propagating the idea that cutie marks are possible to misinterpret. “Appleoosa’s Most Wanted” and “Crusaders of the Lost Mark” were bad enough.

Except cutie marks have always been about interpretation and they’ve rarely been literal.

The interpretation was always on the side of the fans, for the most part. The ponies themselves always seemed to instinctively know what they meant, and they only ever received them once they had a proper epiphany. The idea that cutie marks are a confirmation of your destiny goes right out the window if you still don’t know what your destiny is after getting it.

I’m not so sure about that…
Twilight in the first seasons spends some scenes wondering what a pony is supposed to be if her cutie mark is literally magic. (It means you’re OP, Twilight.)
The mane6 may only have made good guesses - or even chosen their own fate and interpretation, like Rarity (whose TRUE gift seems to be gem-finding (Cutie Mark Chronicles/Dog and Pony Show), but she interpreted it as being destined to be a dressmaker, which she was already doing [MMM ignores this, but it ignores a lot of mark continuity, like RD not having weather control as a talent, so we can ignore it too]).
It seems completely possible to imgine that you’d get a mark and completely miss what caused it to happen or misattribute it.
Like, I could imagine them putting in an episode like this:
“And when my cutie mark turned out to be a bloody knife, I knew my destiny was to be a killer.”
“No! Don’t you see? Your special talent is slicing tomatoes! You got your mark when your toy knife fell into a basket of vegetables!”
“Wow, you’re right! I’m gonna go and be a chef now forever.”

But I feel like that gets the process of getting a cutie mark backwards. It seems like the Mane 6 figured out what they really enjoyed doing and how it fit their personality, and then they got their cutie marks in a moment of “Eureka!”, not the other way around. This tied in with cutie marks being something of a metaphor for puberty and maturity; they reached an age when their personalities became set, and figured out what they wanted to do with their lives. It was their first step on the road to being an adult.
Like, in the example you gave, the pony would’ve expressed interest in being a serial killer, and then got his cutie mark once it dawned on him that that was what he wanted to be. He wouldn’t have gotten his cutie mark first and decided to be a serial killer because of it.

You know it be nifty is ponies could outright hate their cutie marks to such a point they could ultimately override and rewrite their cutie marks, but by doing so they put the balance out of whack. Like MMM but unlike that spell they are aware of what they changed and when someone tries to put things back in order they get upset and beg the question-
“Why should I live out a destiny that will leave me unhappy til the end of my days. Why should you get an awesome destiny and I a terrible one. Why should I be expected to be happy with less knowing you clearly got more”
