The decline off Ponibooru. One year after.

It has been exactly one year now after the father of this site Ponibooru has stopped all capabilities to upload pictures.
 
Alot of you guys came here from Ponibooru and probably have some nostalgic feelings towards it.
 
So now 1 year after it, how do you feel about it? Was it better on Ponibooru? Is Derpibooru better? Have you ever been active there?
 
I was visiting Ponibooru for the first time on November 2011. But i never wrote anything there till it’s decline.  
So i really can’t say that it was better there then now here.

Derpibooru is SO MUCH BETTER  
I will always owe Ponibooru for getting this community started, but literally everything here is so much better.

uhh…i can’t remember anything about ponibooru except the negative things (and i was one of the first members! inside the first 1000).

I started going there around the same time as you OP, though I was a bit more talkative in my time there (not as much as here though).
 
I do sincerely miss ponibooru, regardless of all the faults it had. To quote AppleJackFrost:

Ponibooru had lots more fun in the comments compared to here. Here is more moderated.  
Both have pictures of ponies and thats all I care bout.

What i also remember about Ponibooru was that it was slow as hell.  
But i liked those pictures that they had for the questionable and explicit pictures.

I never used Ponibooru because I wasn’t a brony back then, so I can’t really say. All I know is that this site definitely has a much better community.

Honestly, I think the community is the same. Its just that here, things are better moderated. Hell, a lot of people here are the same people. Though some people didn’t make the jump… ;.;

If Derpibooru had been Ponibooru, things would’ve been better.  
We could’ve stopped Derpygate from happening and all that.
 
Anything good I remember wasn’t really PB’s virtue, but rather the “brony age” that we lived in.

I remember browing Ponibooru to see which pieces of my art were uploaded there and to see what people were saying.
 
That’s about it.

Ponibooru may be rather crap compared to Derpibooru, but Ponibooru will always hold a special meaning to me.
 
To Ponibooru.  

I still have fond memories of Ponibooru from 2011. The memories of Ponibooru from 2012 aren’t that good, but there were still some good moments. On some days I miss May-July 2011. Hell, even Ponychan was good back then!
 
The Great Ponibooru Exodus of 2012 shall be remembered forever in the annals of our fandom. Forsaken by the Great Eco we were lost, but fortunately found a new home quickly.

Derpibooru trumps Ponibooru in every way.

Ponibooru was nice when I first got in the fandom (March 2011), but then it got really slow (lol cloudflare) around 2012. Still, it was pretty much the first site to gather all the pony arts into one easily searchable place, so it deserves recognition for that.

Derpibooru just feels… sterile, compared to Ponibooru. We can’t call out OP’s love of dick anymore, the roleplaying bullshit doesn’t hold a candle to the gif parties, the mods tend to have self-serving interpretations of the rules…
 
To my knowledge, people on Ponibooru never shitposted en masse to drown out discourse in the comments.

I was there for PB. Nothing but RIB spam and Tumblr BS near the end. There’s a healthy medium to having moderation.
 
What do you think the whole point of .gif parties was? It was either to mock OP for an obvious troll attempt or mock others in the comments for taking this so seriously.

I rarely visited Ponibooru but I guess it’s fun in there because it kinda reminds me of old /b/.

You know what is ironic? That place was completely devoid of season 3 images: No King Sombra, no Crystal Empire, No Babs Seed, No Lightning Dust, No Princess Twilight. NO EQUESTRIA GIRLS!.
 
But it was fun when it didn’t crash like bumper cars. Shortly after AWC aired, Chrysalis had over 1000 images flooding in in the first few days. The place also saw the entire Derpygate mayhem. Almost absolute Anarchy there. Anons were easily able to contribute…and spam crap. SeraphimDawn did not come into existence until 3weeks before the shut down, that was shortly after The Great Ponibooru Downtime 2012.
