In the animatic it’s far more apparent the transformation isn’t what Luna expected, having a look of horror when the dark energy surrounded her.
And it seems Nuhfer will build on that. Luna gave in to the Nightmare, but she was also tricked, she didn’t originally want to go as far as her possessed self did.
I’M SOLD!
Yeah, it’s my favorite arc and I Actually liked the concept behind the Nightmare Forces. I hope this one covers all questions that arc left, because it really needs more expansion.
I think we now know who the Steven Butler of this series is.
Sometimes an orb is just an orb.
Alternatively: it was the Nightmare Forces, and Luna made a pact with them to get their power. Celestia’s defeat in exchange for the two of them ruling Equestria in darkness sounds like something a jealous, bitter princess would do.
What is the black orb that surrounds Luna in the season 4 premiere?
Could be a good opportunity to clear up some confusion about what the Dark Forces are.
If it were up to me I would retcon them to be something that Nightmare Moon created or allied herself with while on the moon. They never really explained where they came from, everyone just assumes we are meant to interpret them as what turned Luna into NMM, but that doesn’t fit with the rest of the comic and the show.
Keep in mind this is Heather, who wrote the Nightmare Rarity arc. So this might tie back in to how that story resolved, more of the Nightmare Forces, etc.
Yeah, but what new information could viewing that time period give?
I mean, she has to exit that stage of her life exactly how she entered it.
I would think an origin would be the events that built the character, not past time spent as that character.
It’s from a time before she first appears in the series, that counts as part of her origin, doesn’t it? We already saw the first part of her tale in season 4 + the pilot.
That doesn’t sound like an origin to me.
