I love “Wario Ware,” but it’s almost like everything else about Wario gets ignored nowadays. (Doesn’t help that his last true platforming/action game “Wario Land: Shake it” didn’t do very well.)
Come to think of it, most of his moves, aside from the motorbike don’t really reference “Wario Ware” either. It seems like they just made-up his entire moveset.
I don’t mind them taking some liberties with some characters, but I’d be happy if they at least gave Wario one move that references WL, or at least kept his “shoulder charge attack” from Brawl. (Yet, they replace it with a generic “wind-up punch” that several other characters already have… Making Wario lose some of his uniqueness too.)
Heck, they could’ve moved it to his “running attack” much like DK’s “roll attack.” (Which was from DKC.)
There was really NO reason to get rid of Wario’s most well-known trademark move from the WL games for the new SSB. To me it’d be like getting rid of Mario’s fireballs, Yoshi’s eggs, or something.
Unfortunately, Wario Ware is far more popular then Wario Land. I myself would have liked to have seen his moves reference Wario Land as well as a WL level of sorts and maybe an assist trophy, like having Captain Syrup show up in one of her machines and bomb the other players. I happen to be a huge fan of the Wario Land games.
