More like G586077788233.
Nice try.
Maud was actually in cutie mark chronicles. It was the only time we’ve ever seen here smile for one and also the first time seeing her. Remember that Pinkie actually has two sisters and one of them is unheard of as of yet.
That would have been a lot better, I agree. Blatant disregard for continuity in a show like this is kind of irritating. I mean, it’s one thing when a show has no continuity to speak of, but in FIM, that’s obviously not the case.
I never understood why they didn’t go for the safer and less contradictory approach and made Maud Pinkie’s cousin.
You don’t really lose anything, cause many people have their favourite cousins they like to spend time with (which often make up for a lack of a sibling). Their interaction and the overall theme of the episode would not change any iota, yet we wouldn’t have to scratch our heads about Maud’s absence in Cutie Mark Chronicles.
Y’mean with Shining Armor? I actually felt his was less “out of nowhere” then Maud’s appearance. At least with Twilight we hardly ever saw her family as it was.
Pinkie on the other hand was only shown to have 2 sisters, then suddenly has a third. Of course, it could just be written off that Maud didn’t join her “first party” ‘till later, or was busy with her rocks, which is why we didn’t see her in “Cutie-Mark Chronicles.”
Because her introduction was overall much softer than the last time they tried that.
Yeah, like Pinkie having yet another sister come out of nowhere, (who was not shown in the flashback in “Cutie-Mark Chronicles,” but then suddenly shown in a picture of her first party in “Pinkie Pride”) though I like Maud don’t get me wrong.
I imagine if Maud was introduced in the comics instead prior, people would’ve had a fit, and bashed the comics like crazy for showing a new relative. Yet, I hardly saw any drama over Maud being introduced in the show honestly.
As if the comics couldn’t be acting as a supplementary canon, fact until contradicted by the main source. Like Star Wars.
As if the cartoon doesn’t contradict itself on a regular basis, retroactively altering its own canon from episode to episode and season to season, thereby negating any ‘absolute’ continuity. Like Warhammer 40K.
As if there could only possibly be one single canon ever, rather than multiple divergent canons dependent on which source you go by- books, comics, cartoon, etc. Like the Transformers- which had that same thing going on as far back as the very beginning, and, shock and awe! It’s also a product from Hasbro!
Then again, as a Transformers fan who’s migrated to MLP, I suppose listening to that is no worse than the Geewun and Trukk Not Munkee people. God knows, if I can put up with them for over a decade, I can deal with the “IT’S NOT CANON” people, too.
Doesn’t mean I gotta be happy about it, though.
you realized this is a comic with DISCORD, who can fuck all logic and reason, right?
problem is that this entire incident is nothing BUT references. I suppose that to keep some sanity they only traveled to the past, and if nothing can be changed am guessing this is actually an alternate past that is the present or….. something…….
either way this whole thing has the feel of a spongebob type episode. it ceases to be significant after the episode ends…… it just too confusing.
I didn’t say that “just because they have cameos/references I won’t consider them canon”, I meant that the comics sometimes go WAAAAAY too overhead with the references, althought they’re becoming savvy about that.
A question, then:
There’s an episode (I don’t remember which, might be Cutie Pox) where we can see the main characters of The Big Lebowski as ponies. And it’s as blatant of a reference as one can get.
Do you also consider this episode to be non-canon?
Indeed. The reason I decided to keep the IDW continuity and the canon! Show continuity apart is because of all the implications and sudden “cameos” in the comics and the (sometimes) unfortunate implications (Pennywise, The Observers, Harry Potter’s whole cast, THE FREAKING CYBERMEN/CYBERPONIES).
Yeah, they’re cute details, and I’ll always love me a cute cameo here and there in the show, just as long as they don’t blow it out of proportion or go full creepy on us (That f***ing Slenderpony…)
Haven’t really read all of them, but that Diamond Dog concept was really corny.
Say what you want, I still believe that both of the recent Trixie-centered comics wouldn’t be out of place in the show and in fact would work as the perfect conclusion to her story arc.
Don’t see what your favorite Nintendo All-Star has to do with this.
